For the past couple of days I've been unable to sleep more than a couple of hours a night. This week I've gotten less than 16 hours of rest. I'm not taking any medications, no caffeiene, no liquor... I only take vitimins. I have no idea why I'm unable to close my eyes for more than a few minutes and my thoughts aren't as sharp as usual. For the past couple of weeks I've been manic, a serious case of cabin fever, I've spent money recklessly on clothes and shoes that I don't need. I won't go back to my apartment because its so lonely, so I'm staying at my mom's. I have't been home really since late October because of a break in... I'm running in circles and its all I can do to go to work in the morning. That's the only structure I have at the moment. What can I do? I'm unable to go by a schedule because it only frustrates me, I never know what time it is until I have to rush to work... and everybody thinks I'm so collected and calm. I need some suggestions, please, help?

definitely see a doctor, many causes of insomnia can be treated. you need to have your thyroid checked.

also see a psychiatrist. like you said you might be experiencing some some mania, or hypomanic episode. the spending $$ recklessly and unable to sleep with lots of energy really sounds like mania, do you have periods of depression as well?

First thing is to get calm and figure out what you have to do. Sounds like everything is in chaos. Sit down, figure out what you want to change.
Second figure out a plan of action on how to do those things, long term and short term. This will help you get more in control.
Third, get a little homeopathic help with some lavendar soap, oils, seeds...what ever suits you best...the scent is calming and helps you sleep.
Lastly, go see your doctor. You really should be checked for certain things and if nothing is physically wrong ask for a sleep aid. I recommend Rozerem. I am a raging insomniac and it really helps me get to sleep.
Good Luck!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at.

A break in and all that other frustrating stuff? It might be anxiety... I can't sleep much either because I can't stop repeating the day in my mind. I take Benadryl and since its an antihistamine you can take it with other medicine.

My advice is to see a doctor. If not, meditate and see whatever happens. Try doing yoga,it helps. It will help you calm down abit and whenever you feel too emotional that you might want to explode, meditate in a room.
