Well, laws differ from state to state but one thing I do know is they are not "watching" you. Now, if you live in a small town they may recognize your vehicle in some freak coincidence, but they are too busy with other bigger things than to be making sure you're not driving. They won't pull you over for nothing and it's rare that they will pull you over for something small unless they're having a slow night or they're bored. That doesn't make it right though. However, there are many people, like you, in your same situation or even worse and still risk driving. And that's exactly what it is. A risk you're taking. Not only to get caught via being pulled over but if you are to get into an accident. Anything could happen. I don't know about where you live but here in Ohio we've been having lots of winter weather lately and it wouldn't take much to end up in an accident. Also, lots of deer out here. Everyone takes a risk when they get into a vehicle to drive at any time even with DL's and all the proper legalizations but you're increasing yours as well as your consequences. My ex-boyfriend got pulled over in my car one time because he was going slightly over the limit and he found out that his license was suspended. He didn't know it because we had recently moved and his suspension notice had gotten lost in the mail. His was suspended for having an SR22 because he didn't realize that under that he was required to carry insurance whether he owned a vehicle or not. In which, he didn't at the time. He got my car impounded and had to go to court where they suspended a small jail sentence on him. To make matters worse.this all happened on my 21st birthday of all things. One of my friend's husbands has had his license suspended for years now and has been caught several times. First time he had a suspended jail sentence, second time he served five days, and the most recent one he served thirty days. His fines are so extreme that they are to the point that he'll probably never be able to afford to get his DL back but yet he continues to drive. The last time he got caught he was pulled over for not having a front license plate on his vehicle. (which is a law in Ohio but not for some other states) If I were you, I would just go to the class but if you're going to risk it make sure not to give them a reason to pull you over and BE CAREFUL!!!

A lot would have to do with why your license was "hypothetically" suspended. If it was a "hypothetical" D.U.I. the consequences would be worse than something like an unpaid ticket.
Anyway, if your license were to be suspended "hypothetically" speaking, It is not a good idea to drive. If you get caught you could be looking at some jail time and a much bigger crime than just having a suspended license.
If I were in your "hypothetical" situation, I would get it straightened out as soon as possible.
But this is all hypothetical so you don't have anything to worry about. Right?

Depends on the size of your town. You may get away with it for a while. But once you get caught that cop is going to be looking for you. Driving on a suspended leads to a much much longer extension on your suspension. Usually a dws is for 30, 60 days because of some type of administrative issue with the DMV. If you get a ticket for DWS it is usually followed up with a 1 yr suspension, then a five, a ten, and a permanent. This is diff for every state, but just an example to give you an idea how it works.

lets pretend that there is a device in your car that knows if you have a license or not, think magnetic strip. And lets pretend that they are waiting for you to screw up really bad so they can lock you away for a really long time. This is fun. Lets pretend that they throw ya in some cell with this really big ugly woman that thinks she's a man and likes little girls that like to pretend that they have sense enough to get behind the wheel of a car without a drivers license.

Your chances of being caught are the same as if you had your license. But why would you be so stupid as to drive without your license? your license isn't take away but for SERIOUS OFFENSES. If you got caught driving with a suspended license, they'd haul you off to jail. Co-worker of my wife got caught TWICE...she could not legally drive in Va for SEVEN YEARS.
Personally, I feel if you get caught driving on a suspended license they should confiscate your car, sell it and give the money to the CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF THE KINGS DAUGHTERS.

Driving with a suspended license is usually not detected unless an accident occurred when the licenses of the drivers are verified.

I'm in virginia, but had a friend who borrowed a car that belonged to someone with a suspended licence to get to work for a few months. He got pulled over for almost nothing quite a few times. We guessed the cops check license plates at stop lights when they don't have much to do, and pulled him over thinking he would be the car's owner. Either that or he was really unlucky.

You can and usually will be arrested with the automobile driven being towed. Then after you are processed they will release you and you incur all sorts of penalties and fines. It will take the better part of a year to clear up all the paperwork, pay all the monies, and take the necessary classes to get your DL back. Then you have to appear before a judge again and he tells you that you have been naughty, don't do it again.

Well there probaly is a warrant out also. you would be arrested and go to jail. And the fines would probably triple. Believe me it just gets more and more costly and if you do not have a drivers license you cant have current insuranace so tack that on to. you can lose privilages to drive also
