I might be too late for your meet. (sorry!) But you may find the following tips useful for future reference:
~I'm not sure which position you are running in the relay...that makes all the difference in the world. First and foremost, relax and have fun
~If you run the lead leg, make sure you practice getting out of the blocks with the baton. It's a tricky thing to do. If you have a good start, the rest is easy.
~If you're running the second or third legs, just stay focused and be careful with the hand off. A bad hand off could cost you prescious seconds and the race.
~If you're running anchor, speed is the magic word. This position probably has the most pressure. Relaxing will allow you to move much faster. Don't clench your teeth. Don't make a fist with your free hand. Making a fist will tighten your arm muscles which will in turn tighten your chest muscles. Tight chest muscles = less oxygen b/c your lungs cannot fully expand. (If you're out of breath, you can't run!). Don't look around to see what others are doing. Focus on the finish line. Also, don't pull up towards the end of the race. Sprint all the way through the finish line.
I hope that helps!

Best tip: Relax. Most of the other competitors will waste their energy getting nervous and doing countless striders. Go out to the track, do your warm-ups, baton-passing drills, striders & stretches...take a deep breath...smile and have fun! You'll do better if you're able to relax a bit.
