My parents live in Mexico and they have a debit type card that they can use to withdraw their retirement money. The money is deposited in a bank in Miami automatically by SS. I don't know about the other question.

IF an American retires and moves to say, Sardinia, he will receive his military retirement check there. If he marries a local (or even takes his American wife) and he dies, AND he signed up for the program that's like a life insurance program through the military, she will receive that annuity as long as she remains single. She will receive his SS check also.

Most people have it deposited directly in an American bank and withdraw money as they need it with an ATM card. When the check is sent to another country, the recipient has to pay a fee.I'm not sure about your second question.

i know retirement pay is sent anywhere in the world the retiree is. however, social security checks? that you have to check with the ss office nearest you. i can't see why not but the feds might have other ideas & rules/regs to cover such. now, when a ss person/receiver of the ss funds dies, well, that's it! no partial - no anything. fond memories of once was but that's it! doesn't matter whether if the 'local' is local in the usa or anywhere else, dead is dead & so is your ss check.

Most recipients and the SSA prefer that the money is sent electronically to the recipient's bank account. It depends on how old the survivor is, whether she can receive more from her own account, or if there are children in her care or, possibly, if she has a disability. The survivor has to apply for those benefits unless she is already receiving money from his account. SSA has to be notified of the death, but the funeral director usually supplies that info to SSA as well as the survivor.

I believe they do. If they don't you could have it sent to a mailbox that could forward it to you. It would cost something, but hey you ssn is alot more money. Heck, now they probably direct deposit. You can have a bank in the US and cantake it out where ever you live. You need the funds converted anyways.

I would go with direct deposit with a joint checking or savings account it would go to either party and there is also a $250 death benefit
