I sounds like he is mad that he isn't getting attention (even though i'm sure he gets alot). My dog was like this as well. Anytime i did anything such as talk on the phone or go on the computer where i wasn't paying attention to him he would bark at me. It was very frustrating. The vet suggested just ignoring him when he does this. Get up and walk away. Do not give him attention, Do not talk to him, do not yell at him, do not pet him, do not move him, and do not make eye contact. the dog can think anyone of these things is you giving it attention--therefore it associates barking at you as a way to get what it wants, attention. So if you teach him that he will not get your attention, eventually he will stop. It will be very frustrating, It took my dog like 3 months from when i began to put serious effort into it to when i considered him to be good. Also note, that he will probally get worse before he gets better. He is going to get frustrated and bark lounder and longer at you, but don't give in. Don't let him know he can win. Good luck.

Try this little trick. It works for me. Put a few pennies in a soda pop can and tape it shut. When the puppy barks, throw the can on the floor and sharply say NO BARK. After that first time or two, all you may have to do is shake the can and say NO BARK. After a while, all you will have to say is no bark without the can. But keep the can handy. If he ever barks without quitting again, just shake the can, say no bark, and leave the can where he sees it. Worth a try!
BTW I have a friend that has a dog that barks every time she is on the phone and he is 5 or 6 years old. But that is the only time I've ever seen him bark. I'll have to get her a shaker can.

That's right! Training! Training! Training! Chihuahua's are very intelligent and you have some how let this animal believe that it is ok to behave this way...teach it to "HUSH" and when it gets quiet then give a pause to make sure it stays quiet and then give a treat or reward...also try petting the dog and keeping it calm while you are on the phone or during times that you need quiet. he may think the phone is attacking your ear and is trying to save you! try to see it from his point of view...they are not humans so think about K9 instincts and how all that is triggered...once you know that then it's simple...have them get used to what ever is triggering the bark response...after all it is simply a response to something that he dosen't approve of.

Our chihuahua's do the same thing they even bark when the phone rings which is a good thing for me if I am in another room. We are trying to train ours only to bark when there is someone at the door or the phone is ringing so far they are doing pretty good. I think that the only thing that you can do is to just keep working with them. Remeber he thinks that he is the king of the house and you are only to pay attention to him. Just keep working with him.

He's barking constantly BECAUSE he's spoiled. Did you ever think of that word 'spoiled'? Does it mean he gets too much attention or - going to the dictionary - does it mean he's been ruined by inappropriate handling? Put it outside when you're on the phone or lock yourself in a room where the little horror can't get you. Or, alternatively, take it to obedience class so you can learn how to control it.

take excitement in it jointly because it lasts! My 8 y.o. chihuahua combination did no longer bark for the 1st 3 months we had her. Now, all she ever does is bark. do no longer time table a vet appointment only as a result, yet at your next bypass to, you ought to point it if she nevertheless hasn't barked.

They have shock collars that you put to the size of the dog and they teach the dog not to bark, but that is a little extreme. If I were you I would probably try behavioral training. My vet recommended a company called Bark Busters and they are awesome! They have a LIFETIME WARRANTY and they come to your home and will come as many times as it takes to stop the problem! Best of luck!

As an extreme measure, you could try a collar that shocks him every time he barks. There are also collars that will squirt him in the face or maybe play an annoying noise. Just for a couple days, until he gets the hint!

Honestly there isn't really much you can do about it. My dog has the same problem and we have tried everything. The one major bad thing is that she lays on our balcony upstairs and watches people or cars go by through a window and barks constantly. We have tried almost everything!!! A muzzle though worked the best.

My 11 month lab barked every time we had guests over. I was extremely embarassing. The way I learned to make her shut up was taking her to obidience classes. They are held pretty much any big dog or cat store(that is wherever you live). Or if you don't have time for that...a simple TIME OUT and a couple of NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO------STOP IT's will do.
