Don't mix any drinks. Stay away from sweet drinks. Clear liquors will give you less of a hangover.

Actually, I have never gotten sick when I had a glass of ice water after every two drinks. So, for me, I can have alcohol and water in the same evening and I will not get sick. I don't get hangovers when I drink water either. I think it is because alcohol dehydrates. Stay hydrated to avoid the hangovers. If you are already sh*tfaced, however, try to aviod the bad-tasting drinks. Do not, under any circumstances, ingest a cement mixer shot. This will definitely induce vomiting.

When I was growing up they always said "Beer after whiskey, mighty risky, whiskey after beer, never fear" It's a pretty good rule, if you're drink ing brown liquor, like whiskey or brown rum or tequila, to stick with that drink and that one only. White liquor is a lot cleaner than brown so mixing white liquors don't hurt ya. Example, Long Island Iced Tea. No matter what you're drinkiing, the secret is MODERATION. Don't drink too much of anything, and a reliable designated driver.

Its not so much the type as the volume - you drink a few headaches of beer and then start shooting tequila then you aren't gonna feel good the next day.
