Don't think you are going to find a Burger King in Soho, so don't worry. Soho is still a bit too trendy, so you are talking money there. You can go to the Broome Street Bar, Broome and West Broadway, for Burgers and such, which is one of oldest restaurants and quite cheap. Also, I like the Cupping Room, which is I think right next door, not too expensive. Both better for lunch, Cupping Room also for breakfast. I usually eat at Il Tre Mereli (sp) on W. B'way, which is Italian, not too expensive as it's been there forever. Corner of 6th Ave & I think it's either Prince or Spring is I believe Aqua, which is seafood, not tooo bad in price, but great food, and good service, recommend that. A lot of places if you wander on W. B'way or Prince or Spring. Check out on Zagats, think you can do a Google search.
For Chinatown, just about anyplace is pretty good. As long as it's crwded you know you are safe. I'm trying to remember the name of the place I always eat and having a mental freeze all of a suddenl. Ok, it's one of the larger one's aaround Confusus Square, I think it is called the Crystal Plaza, but don't hold me to this. It's the maiin street, and it's in a sort of shopping center like area, where you go up an esclator. The room is huge, and a lot of times they are having weddings, but will sit you inn another part of the restaurant. It is by far the best!!!!!! Also, if you get a chance, one of the things people really don't know about are the bakeries in Chinatown. They make some really interesting pasteries down there. Give them a try.

In Chinatown, these are excellent and inexpensive:
Fuleen Seafood, 11 Division Street (lunch prices are great )- portions are big and the shrimp dishes - ummm
Sunrise 27, 27 Division Street, I especially love their fried squid, but all the fish dishes are wonderful
NY Noodletown, 28 1/2 Bowery, small, drab, crowded - the food here is awesome
Shanghai Cuisine, 89 Bayard Street - really good Shanghai food
Grab an ice cream at the Chinatown Ice Cream Factory on Bayard Street. Feeling brave? Try the avocado, black sesame, lychee, wasabi or peanut butter and jelly. Not adventurous? Get mango or peach or mint chocolate chip.

Be sure to do some shopping while you're in Chinatown - it's the best place to get souvenirs or little "stocking stuffer" gifts; tremendous assortment of bags, scarves, costume jewelry at tremendous discounts.
In Soho, have pizza at Lombardi's on Spring Street. Lombardi's was the first pizza restaurant in New York and they still make excellent pizza - it's something of a landmark.

Try a Vietnamese restaurant - Pho Bang on Mott and Grand - very inexpensive and very good.
Balthazar on Spring near Broadway is a very expensive restaurant, but they have a bakery. Stop in there and get a piece of quiche or a brioche or coffee and cake.

Grand Street, east of Broadway, has the best places to eat Chinese. The whole neighborhood is nothing but food markets and restaurants. Try some Vietnamese or Malaysian (Singapore) food, if you like something a bit more tropical and exotic.
