Hi. I need to know a few different styles in getting over a 6 foot wall.

Id like to hear from women becuase well I am one. But men are encouraged to answer as well. - Actually- anyone who has a real answer and not something cheeky or snide- Idea would be someone who has struggled with this in the academy- or maybe someone who does wall climbing- rock climbing ect.

Im looking for diferent styles-

-lower body style(women mostly use this one)

-upper body style(men use this one)

-combo style.

What has and has not worked for you?

I will recommend the way we do it in the Canadian Forces. It's designed to work while wearing combat boots, so police boots or sneakers will work just as well if not better.

When approaching the wall, accelerate to a full-out sprint. Once you reach it, plant one foot against it and push up, then the other and simultaneously grasp for the top and pull yourself into the edge. Basically, you're running up the wall for a full step.

That will land you near the top. At that point, once your midsection has reached it, swing one leg over and the rest of your body will follow with just a good twist of the hips.

I haven't taken the actual test, but I do climb. While you're running, I think it's best to jump up with one foot and brace against the wall with the other foot as your hands grip the top of the wall. The higher you jump, the less pulling up you have to do. The goal is to use your legs as much as possible. Hang on to the top of the wall hands about shoulderwidth apart, bring both feet now braced against the wall, push yourself up till your waist meets the top of the wall, then swing your dominant leg on top of the wall as well, and bring your other leg underneath the first one, swing it though, push off with hands, and land. If you want, you can turn your landing into a roll, but you don't have to.

I reccomend practicing this. The wall is bascially the same as the standard wooden fence in your backyard. Just practice hopping the fence seperating your frontyard to your backyard.

If you find you can't do this, or you don't feel strong enough, I reccomend some weight training empasizing back muscles, biceps, and triceps. You don't need to be a bodybuilder to hop a fence, obviously, but a little weight training here and there will help.

That's the most effecient way I know, but maybe there's something better.

I have taken this part of the physical agility test numerous times. I am about six foot tall so my height has helped me. The wall is all about timing. Time your strongest foot (typically the right) to hit the wall a split second before your hands reach. This evens out your forward momentum with your verticle momentum from the jump. Then as I am pulling up with my arms at shoulder length I'll kick both of my toes into the wall to help spring them up and over. Usually my feet come over the left side of the wall and my hands will remain on the top of the wall to help ease the fall unless there is some padding then I will merely go over facing the way I came.

I think you should learn Parkour. They teach you how to do stuff like that (jumping over 6 feet walls). If you want to see it in action, go to youtube.com and type "Parkour" into the search bar.
