Starchy, carb foods are good, such as bananas, and bread. Or toss some yogurt, fruit and bananas together to make a smoothie.
Also, eat some peanut butter. A small amount gives a lot of calories, not to mention loads of healthy peanut nutrients.

When I had to gain weight, the doctor told me to eat 2000 calories a day. I drank a drink called "Boost" which was pretty nutritious, and high on calories.
Although, I'm not sure it would be a great idea to gain weight through a weight gaining drink, since you have to maintain it.
Try eating every 2-3 hours. Of course, if you eat a bunch of junk food, you'll gain weight. Not quite healthy though. You don't want to gain much fat, but try working out to gain muscle.

Gaining muscle is not about just eating protein. You should ideally be having 6 meals a day, with a cetain amount of carbs/fat/protein. Also you need to include resistance training, ideally focusing on compound exercises, i.e. bench press, squats, deadlifts etc.
The following article steps through on how to gain muscle

A lot of protein and get plenty of exercise. You want to gain healthy weight, not fat weight.
