They are really great for slicing onions for french onion soup or potatoes for scalloped potatoes. Also if you have a grating blade it makes it real easy to grate leftover meat for your own home made hame or chicken salad. Did your processor come with a recipe book? Maybe give some of them a try.

Use it to make pastry dough.
Make peanut butter
grate cheese for quiche
make smoothies
chop onions for some dish
chop nuts for baklava
I've worn out a couple of those things. Great for use around the kitchen. Anything you need finely chopped or grated works well in the processor.

I use mine for adding things like onions to food-- I don't like the texture of onions but I love the flavor so it hides them.
I also use it to make salsa- onion, canned mexican tomatoes, green chiles and cilantro.
Sometimes I use the slicing feature if I am making a big salad with lots of veggies.

Here's a website that purports to tell us how to use a food processor:
http://www.ehow.com/how_16278_food-processor.html
These are valuable kitchen machines, but are only suitable for certain tasks (at which they excel!). Sometimes there is so much extra work setting up then cleaning afterward that a manual grater or a good chef's knife is better.

It's like a blender only better. You can use it to knead/blend dough, chop/mince spices, blend emulsions, shred/slice vegetables with the attachements etc. etc. I love mine, I don't know what I'd do without it!
