I have lost 50 lbs in the last year and I did so good, but it got cold and snowy here and I dont want salads because they are cold, I want hot food, and I want sweets, chocolate and pastries. Oh my I am not giving in but all I want to do is eat. In the summertime I could care less about food. Why is this??

In winter humans are similar to the animal kingdom and we want to hibernate and we want to be in that state where we are cozy and warm and nurtured. The stomach has a pull to want this. This is one of the hardest times to not eat those comforting type foods.

Also the lack of light can cause a form of inwardness, in some depression can be an issue to those who normally don't get it. We have a natural tendency to try and make ourselves feel better.

So instead of using food as the crux, try to put your energy into different things, like changing the room around, making it feel lighter maybe. This is not a bad time to clear clutter to prepare for when spring comes. I know we usually wait for spring to 'spring clean', . But winter can be productive too. If being too active is not your cup of tea, try to do some personal nurturing. Warm baths, new hairstyle. Pampering goes well with winter.

Anything is better than risking your new figure. Congratulations on that.

I don't know about cold and snowy, I'm from Hawai'i. But it's probably natural to crave comfort foods when your cold, it may be your body attemting to add on a warm, protective layer of fat for the winter.
Hot food metabolizes faster than cold food, but not when it's cake and hot fudge. Try soups or salads with warm chicken or shrimp pieces for warmth. A chubby friend of mine went on a soup diet and got skinner than anyone believed.

Good Luck.

I have no idea, but it happens to me too. I guess 'cause I'm inside all the time and very lazy. It's just warm inside all the time and all you want to do is lay on the couch, watch t.v. and grab a piece of cake or something. Given that it's so cold outside, who wants to go anywhere? It's too cold to exercise and we definitely can't go to the beach and stuff. When you put all the together, all you have left to do is eat. Sadly, it's just a part of life. (I've just been filling up on rice cakes--only 35 calories and they come in different flavors) Well, take care.

I don't know about you, but in the summer, I try really hard to look good in my clothes. In the winter however, I'm bundled up in hoodies, bulky jackets, and scarves. I think that knowing I can eat more and hide it behind all the extra clothing makes me eat more in the winter. That might be your reason too. Don't give in--if you lost 50 lbs., don't blow it in one season! Soon, summer will be here, & you can flaunt your new body! Use that for some motivation.

Its called cabin fever. Since you are cooped up inside, you have nothing better to do but eat. You sound like me the past week. Try making a pot of soup or something to eat that is less fattening.
