Are they bad and you need to throw them away or are they still good to use?

it means that it is a wonderful tiime to have home fries.....try it if they have grown roots and are soft.

If they are growing roots and are not firm anymore, take them and layer with straw in a trash can and take outside. They will make a plant above the straw, and when it flowers you can harvest the new potatoes that have grown.

Its time to plant them! ;-)~ Actually, while you COULD plant them, they are still ok so long as they are still fairly firm - just break off the growths before peeling. When they start getting real soft or as rot sets in, then its time to toss (or compost) them.
