I am auditioning for the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford tomorrow, I dunno if anyone's heard of it or anything. I'm auditioning for the musical theatre program. I'm all set with dance clothes, but what do they expect me to wear for my voice and monologue audition portion? I know that it may not matter after all, but I want to make sure I'm fully prepared.

I doubt that what you wear will matter (ie: if you're still wearing your dance ensemble). Break a leg!

Just be you. What they are doing is a couple of things. One is they are probably trying to do a "placement" in the classes that they think is right for you. Two, they are trying to see if you can handle their program or both or sometimes they will see if you are what they are looking for in their program. Some musical theatre programs are very competitive in the university. Good luck and break a leg.:O)

Wear a bold solid colored shirt. (Red is a dominant power color!...but not good for blemish days lol)

I usually wear black pants but if you're auditioning in a "black box" type of theater go with gray pants.

Wear dress shoes, but ones that you are comfortable in. (that aren't clunky and you wont fall over in) It's amazing how much confidence a really nice pair of heels can exude.

Walk tall, be confident, charming and SMILE. If you have fun, so will they.

ofcourse it matters what you wear! dress nicely, naturally, but wear a bright shirt or something that stands out so they will remember you easily. GOOD LUCK!
