Benadryl is an anti-allergy medicine. It is NOT a pain reliever. Get your dog to a vet to have him examined. DO NOT give him any human medication. Get off the computer and get him to a vet ASAP!!!!!

Edit: So, the "people" who have neeged me think it's ok to allow the dog to lay there and die? See, that's why questions like this SHOULD NOT be asked on here.

Honey, if you guys can't afford a vet visit, then you need to give your dog to someone who can. It's not your fault nor your dog's fault that your parents are in debt. To make either of you suffer because of it is reprehensible!

This sounds like something that really needs to be checked out by a vet ASAP, and since money is tight call your vet and explain your situation. They may be able to suggest over the counter meds or they may also offer a payment plan for services rendered. That way you can get him treated but pay reduced payments over a extended period of time.

Try VCA animal Hospitals - they're the best and all across the country - they also are having a $30 off first visit special if you visit their website : http://www.vcapets.com/index.htm

You dog is in shock If you don't want to loose him take him to a vet NOW! Do not give him benadryl ever. Cover him with a warm blanket and get the dog to a vet. This is part of being a respondable dog owner. What would you do if it was you child? The Dog is in pain help it NOW!

Your pet is depending on you to take care of him, pets are like children. Find the money and get him some help. He could have some internal injuries. Do not give him Tylenol or Ibuprofen, either. They are poison to dogs and cats. If nothing else, call the emergency clinic and get some kind of advice.

Give him some buffered dog asperin, In a real pinch give any bufferd asperin. Wrap it in cheese or meat to hide it. It sounds like hes in pain maybe not something serious. keep him quiret for the next day and see how it goes. Dont give the asperin for more than 2 days. Dogs dont tolerate it that well. Hence buffered asperin.

I would call a vet before you do anything. I am pretty sure you should not give your dog human medication. If you just call any vet they will usually tell you what is best to do. Good luck!

If he's a large dog, you can give him 1 buffered aspirin to help with pain. Small dog- one baby aspirin. Breathing hard indicates pain. If he is tapping down and trying to use the leg, it's probably not broken. However, if he won't weight bear at all ,then you may be looking at a fracture. I would have a vet look at him in the morning. Nothing you have to rush in if it's not life threatening.`

If you're more worried about being in debt than your dog's health, about all you can do is bury him when he stops breathing.

He could die if you don't take him to the vet. Heavy breathing is a sympton of collapsed lung(s) and needs medical attention.
