This happened two more time afterwards last year.
They took my gallbladder out. They didn't see any stones in all of the exams that they ran, but decided to take it out. What they found was a little sludge and still puzzled on why this happened to me.
They told me I couldnt drink for the rest of my life and that I needed to watch my diet.
I am so scared about having another attack. I a friend of a friend of mine died in his sleep from an attack. He was very intoxicated from alcohol.
Please, send me tips on prevention, and feelings one would have that's a trigger that its coming up again...

First of all Pareantitis is caused by leakage from the bowl otr intestines into the abdominal cavity. It cannot happen any other way. It has to be a perforated bowl from something like diverticulitus. Drinking has nothing to do with this. You should ask for a post operative report. Every procedure MUST have an associated report detailing what caused the problem. If they hesitate then something may have gone wrong. They have to give it to you, that it the law.
Find out what really happened to you, you can go from there.

Hi What a year you have had
Pancreatitis is inflamation of the pancreatitis caused by infection possibly viral bacterial or just irritation in the abdominal cavity.
Can I just say that everything in moderation is a good rule to go by in all things Yes alcohol is something you should avoid and high sugary foods
The pancreas is the organ that makes Insulin and if it is inflamed (pancreatitis) it has to work harder to make insulin to use up the sugars in these foods and therefor cause you a lot of pain and discomfort trying to work. You need to aim at a healthy lifestyle with a good diet and exercise routine keeping yourself as healthy as possible. Many times the onset of pancreatitis has no real noticeable cause so predicting is not easy.
Take care and look after yourself
The gallbladder has nothing to do with pancreatitis why did they take it out was it just for part of investigation. luckly you dont need it but you will have to watch out the high fatty foods will give you indigestion now and some discomfort so stay on a low fat diet for this

Acute pancreatitis: One-time occurrence.
Chronic pancreatitis is persistent inflammation of the pancreas that results in permanent structural damage with fibrosis and ductal strictures, followed by a decline in exocrine and endocrine function. It can occur as the result of chronic alcohol abuse but may be idiopathic. Initial symptoms are recurrent attacks of pain. Later in the disease, some patients develop malabsorption and glucose intolerance. Diagnosis is usually made by imaging studies such as ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, or secretin pancreatic function testing. Treatment is supportive, with dietary modification, analgesics, and enzyme supplements. In some cases, surgery is helpful.
Please see the web pages for more details on Pancreatitis (Acute and chronic).
