I remember one time a guy was getting his right leg amputated. When he was in surgery, the Drs. took the left leg by accident. They were almost finished when they realized their mistake, so they then cut the right one off. He couldn't sue because he didn't have a leg to stand on.

I just had my knee replaced on January the 9th. I have had no problems and am getting around just fine. I got out of bed that night and went home the following day. The constant pain that I felt before is gone and I am only limping slightly anymore. I have been shopping and doing things that I have not been able to do for years. I am only 42 which was young for a replacement and I had trouble finding a doc that would do it, but I am soooo glad that I did. If you need one put aside the worry and get it done you will be glad that you did.

Present days Knee replacement surgery is very common. It is nothing but replacing the diseased and painful joint surfaces of the knee with metal and plastic components shaped to allow continued motion of the knee.
According to the medical research blood clots in the leg veins are the most common complication of knee replacement surgery. Your orthopedic surgeon will outline a prevention program, which may include periodic elevation of your legs, lower leg exercises to increase circulation, support stockings and medication to thin your blood."
Earlier, there was a considerable risk of the implant components loosening over a time as a result of wear. As medical technology has improved however, this risk has fallen considerably.
Further, if you are looking for a cheap and quality medical procedure, why not you can try with a medical tourism source called Healthbase? where my friend approached for his medical treatment abroad.
More on this, healthbase is a trusted source for global medical choices, connecting patients to leading hospitals around the world, through a secure, high-tech, information-rich web portal. To learn more, visit http://www.healthbase.com. You can go up to 80% savings when you plan for your medical procedure overseas.

I have seen 1000's of knee replacements - a small percentage get infected.. it is a painfull recovery and will take about 6 months to fully recover -- the first 3 weeks are really bad BUT if you find a good surgeon it can change your life as you will have your mobility back... they have better methods of controlling the pain now -- you have to do the exercises after surgery and make the committment -- if you are mentally motivated you will do fine! Good luck

The price of knee replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Fly2india4health Consultants. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories. I have also read that they arrange financing for international patients, as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by the stinking NHS.
They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your knee joint surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of Healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
My cousin got her Knee Joint surgery done there and she is more than very happy with the results. She is all praise for Fly2india4health Consultants. She paid just 20% of the cost what she was quoted in USA and it was like a wonderful vacation for her. Hope this helps

Everyone I knew who had had this surgery did wonderfully...then my mom had it and she has not recovered as well. She still has pain and has a slight limp. The medication she took during recovery made her too ill to get out of bed and the lack of being able to get up and exercise her knee stifled her recovery time. She is OK but everyone else I've known has done better.
