Red wines are usually dry and go well with such main-course dishes as red meats, spaghetti, and highly-seasoned foods.
Rosé wines (also called "pink wines") can be served with almost any dish, but are considered best with seafood, salads, cold cuts, pork, and curries.
White wines can be very dry to rather sweet, these wines should be served chilled, and go well with white meats, seafood, and fowl.

That is a tricky question since it all depend on you particular taste to wines.
To illustrate you: I like both, however when drinking just wine (alone, plain, with no food) I prefer a red wine, not sweet (dry) and usually from sauvignon grapes. I love Bordeaux, some Cabernet-Sauvignons from Chile too.
If you plan to take wine with food, then it's better to make the right match (of course there can be many combinations) in order to have a balance in the tastes and never letting one element shades the flavor or taste of the other.
In the end it all depends on your taste and the quality of the wine of course.

I prefer red and if you'll notice, all of the so called "scientific studies" make reference to red being better for your health, so my deduction is that red is better.
