Who has had lasik before and what are the results?

Are there any side effects you have? If so, how bad is it?

*important Question* how long has it been since your LASIK?

How long did it take for your vision to restore to normal? Did your vision really go to 20/15 as I have read in my researches? Do it correct astigmatism? Does your eyes feel normal, like no dryness or itching or what so ever pain after the surgery? IF you have halos or double vision, how bad is it, Does it go away after a while??

Please help me with these questions, because i am Really really tired of wearing glasses and contacts, and I am really considering to get Lasik.

I love it. Painful healing process for a few weeks. No side effects. 20/19 vision. Will need reading glasses someday as this is an eye muscle problem we get as we age. Eyes feel just as they did prior to the surgery. Colors seem more vibrant (to me).

They cured the "halo" issue years ago by broadening the operated area around the pupil. Was very light sensitive for two to three weeks. Saw star-bursts for three weeks or so. Saw faint halos for four weeks or so.

Had surgery in Canada in 2003. Flew up there for better price. Now prices here are compatible.

I had LASIK five years ago. I actually have 20/10 vision. LASIK does correct for astigmatism depending on how much you have and how thick your corneas. I am actually an ophthalmic surgical scrub tech and have seen 100's of people acheive these results. Most people I see drive themselves to their one day post op visit. I had my surgery on Friday and was assisting in surgery myself on the Monday morning following the procdure.

Everyone is different in their recovery and people can even have each eye behave differently postoperatively. Initially your eyes will be more prone to dryness. Most people improve with time, but the eyes do tend to be a little more dry after LASIK because the nerve endings have been cut.

Immediately after the surgery, especially the first 24-48 hours your eyes will feel a little irritated. For me it was very similar to the sensations I felt after swimming all day in a pool with too many chemicals. Your eyes will be more comfortable closed, so if you have it done, go home take a nap and when you are awake use artificial tears as much as you can. I had no discomfort during the procedure. The worse part is the instrument they use to hold your eyelids out of the way. Your eye is numb, but not the lids so you will feel pressure on your eyelids.

I have halos very similar to what I had with contact lens wear. Again everyone's experience is different and some are bothered more than others. There are also different methods of acheiving refractive error corrections. ( LASIK, PRK, LRI, LASEK etc. ) LASIK has become a somewhat generic term. Each procdure has it's pros and cons and some procedures are more appropriate than others depending on your visual needs, refractive error and anatomy.

I would have LASIK again in a heart beat! But you have to do your research, way the pros and cons and decide for yourself. Don't be afraid to ask questions. A well qualified surgeon welcomes your questions and wants to answer all of them to your satisfaction. Bottom line, LASIK is very safe procedure when done by a well qualifed surgeon, but not totally without risk. Check out the doctor AND the facility where you decide to have the procedure. Good luck

i had lasik 6 yrs ago and i see much better, i went from 20/80 to 20/20. I have no problems. I did my homework in finding a good doctor. Dr Norden was the best at that time and still ; hes in New Jersey. The surgery was quick and painless. i had to wear dark shades the next day, but after that i was amazed at the results, i stomped on my glasses and threw them out.

I had 3 friends who did it and they love it. With the more years its out it seems to get easier, less expensive and less invasive. They usually had to wear sunglasses for a few weeks but they were fine. Also its cost effective when you think about how much you spend on contacts and glasses over so many years.

my very close friend had both eyes done about 6 years ago. She highly recommends it - she's so very pleased with the result ! All you need to do is train your eyes to stay open for a minute without blinking ! It did cost quite a bit (6 G) take care and good luck
