...but still support our troops? How is that possible? What is your reasoning if so?

I agree with the war in Iraq though I don't think it's being handled well. But, you can be against a war and still concerned for the people who are fighting it. Seriously, how would you feel about a person who said, I think the war in Iraq is wrong so let's just forget about the soldiers and if they get killed, they get killed? Even if you don't like the war, you have to show concern for people who are willing to put their lives on the line to fight for your rights, your freedoms and your very life.

The troops didnt get together and say hey lets go to Iraq and get blown up, it was the govt. So disagreeing with the war has nothing to do with the troops and not supporting them. I disagree with the war because it was/is all a lie and people fed into it and still are. The troops are just doing their job and doing the best they can. War=really bad idea, but the troops I will always support

That was a great question! I do not support the War-I believe that the President has made a mess of the whole situation! And may I go further to say that the American people who do support the war, are not up to date on the REAL facts! The facts-Our men are dying for a country who NEVER posed a threat. Our men are dying for a country whom most of the residents there-want us gone. Our men our dying for people who have known nothing but fighting their whole lives-and are NOT going to change. And our President sits in his house safe and sound while families lose their brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, cousins, aunts, and uncles! The last fact I wrote makes me sick! Why don't they put Mr. Bush's daughters on the front lines, or hey why not him! Then we'll see if still thinks he made the right decision! To answer the second part of your question, Yes I support our troops, I pray for our troops. They can't help what the president did-some were in the armed forces before the war broke out. And the brave people who enlisted after war were mis-lead to believe they were fighting "The War on Terror". No if this were the war on terror-we would be fighting in Afganistan-where the people who harbored the terrorist who attacked us on 9/11 were! Support the War-I think not....Support our troops-most definatly!

I was a soldier. I never minded if I saw protestors or heard people oppose the war or whatever. Instead I was proud that I lived in a country that tolerated and respected dissent. Other disagree, as is their right, but there is no inherent contradiction in opposing the war and supporting the troops. What does that mean anyway? All these people that support the troops, what do they mean? Have they visited the local VFW and thanked them for their service? Have they donated to a military charity or the USO? Have they ever sent a phone card or letter to the "any soldier" or "any marine" program? I think both sides are being a little disingenuous if you ask me.

I do not believe a person can actively protest a war while at the same time maintain that he supports the troops - or America's security.

It's ironic that no one protested our inaction while the terrorists slaughtered thousands of innocent men, women and children around the globe. It was this inaction that culminated in the events of 9/11.

alQaeda has declared jihad - and have been carrying out a one sided war against the United States for over 25 years because we chose to not engage them militarily with any real effective policies. These policies were viewed as weakness by the terrorists.

Well, they've got their jihad now - and we had better be victorious.

The troops are only doing what they're ORDERED to. I do not in
any way support president bush. Congress denied his orders
for more troops. To him a US soldier is just like his plastic soldiers and he isn't done playing yet!! I don't blame the other enlisted people for refusing to fight a war that will never end! How would you feel if your son, daughter or other family member came home in a box? This sad excuse of a leader needs to follow in Nixon's shoes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its very simple.
These men and women put their lives on the line.......they go into harms way because the american government sent them there. This was not their choice....many of them cannot understand why they are still there. BUT........I support them staying safe and coming home safe because I dont believe that we honour the memories of the victims of 9/11 by killing still more innocent people. I dont understand the logic behined that. I dont support the war but I support the efforts of the troops to protect as many innocent people as they possibly can.....including themselves.

Our troops are not the ones that decided to start the war.

Your question should be reversed. It is possible to not support the troops????????

I don't think we should have invaded Iraq .
We should moved heaven and earth to find Bin Laden and kill him in Afghanistan , with every thing we had. .
Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 Some of us knew it then and now all of us know it .
The Iraqis have been fighting among themselves for hundreds of years and Saddam was the only one that could keep them from fighting , sadly with fear .
These people don't know how to hold their country together for
themselves and their people .
We have something to learn about these people . Their religion is the country and their country is their religion .

it's simple.

those who care the least about our troops are those who sent them into the middle of a civil war.

those who want them to fight a mission that actually is connected with the 9/11 attacks and the larger war on terror (afganistan) are the ones who truly support the troops.

the war is not there because of the troops.

the troops are there because fools sent them there.

i can't help but wonder how long the bush admin and their right wing tools are going to literally hide behind the troops and play this horrid game of chicken with the democrats on this issue.

admit it - the bush admin WANTS the dems to cut off funding - it's their goal because it will make the dems look bad.

so, tell me again who supports the troops...
