no but smoking in excess may cause problems with the lungs which may lead to more frequent respiratory illness or lung infections but that has a lot to do with genetics. There are no known cases of deaths directly linked to marijuana use.

I have a friend who kept on smoking pot for years when everyone
else had given it up. She smoked both cigs and pot. She has
lung cancer and it has spread. This is breaking my heart. I hate
to see anyone suffer and I hate to think of the loss when my friend
is no longer here.
I think there are alot of same properties in cigs and pot and even
though the pot is a pain reliever and has other good qualities, I
think it can still be detrimental in reference to having the bad
chemicals and properties that cigs have.
Give it up before its too late. Get help, Use gum or patch or drugs
to help you and please stop while you have a chance.

You can't die from the drug itself. Like extacy can cause cardiac arrest. People die from smoking then doing stupid things to get themselves killed. You would have to smoke your body's weight in pot for it to kill you. And no one can smoke that much before you pass out. Some times you can think you are going to because you become very paranoid and think your hearts beating too fast and stuff but really it's not. It will kill brain cells and make you stupider though. Although if it is laced with something like cocaine or LSD it might could.

I actually would say yes. Reason if someone is so stoned they could do something dangerous and that could cause death by accident. Example impaired driving.
