They are pushing 200mph (NASCAR) and over(INDY). There are races for both that are not ovals, those are really treacherous, and mindset. To ny21tb , I have $10,000 tied up in a TOY TRAIN, IT IS CALLED MODEL RAIL ROADING. Watching Nascar is real, fun and fast, and FREE.

Since when do indy drivers run in ovals? All the indy races that I have watched are road courses. I prefer nascar tho.

Just watched a Toyota win truck race by .031sec and snatch victory away from my 6 truck. My heart is pounding...there have been trucks upside down,on fire and inches apart at 190 3 and 4 wide!...I've driven an oval short track(not in competition)trying to get it just right, not easy...now add 100mph and a bunch more cars.F1...3-5 seconds a lap difference in lap times,a handfull of cars and maybe 3 have a chance to win and many races never have a pass for the lead. While NASCAR isn't STOCK anymore, they still run push rod v-8s,similar to race engines at local short tracks.Oh,and 170000 people at MIS,from all over US and CAN,and we all get along.

That is an excellent question because I know that there are many folks around the world who think it is terribly inane to compete like this week after week after week.

It is a purely American phenomena and that is why it is special. Plus you should cut Indy cars some slack as they do race open wheel at extremely high speeds and they have a few road courses on their schedule this year.

What is so interesting is all the other aspects, not just the one people seem most to make fun. If you go to a race, it's a whole lot more than just a football game (No offense, I love football as much as the next guy.) I'm just saying that if you really get into it, there's a lot more to it than just the cars going around in circles.

well, unlike F-1, the cars can actually pass each other and, race side by side. if I watched F-1, I would save a lot of money by, just buying a toy train set.

i know exactly waht you mean, there is absolutely no fun in watching cars drive in ovals in 120 degree weather. maybe if your driving the car the adrenalin might get you, but after about 10 laps id start to fall asleep and crash...o...and the crashes are fun to watch if there big enough
