Fine ground is for an espresso machine.
Medium is for a percolator.
Coarse is for a plunger.

Generally course ground coffee is made using filter method, made either manually using a filter or one of those come with 2 part attachments. Where as finer coffee is brewed by a simple method, where water is boiled in a pan and once it comes to boil stop the flame and add coffee powder(qty you have to experiment starting from Half teaspoon per cup of water) stir and sprinkle some cold water and cover with a lid for a few minutes. Pour coffee decotion formed slowly form top with out disturbing the bottom layer into a cup and add sugar and milk(if required)
You have strong coffee.

Coures and medium ground is great for regular coffee, Fine grind is usually used for espresso type drinks. You can vary the strength of your coffee by using a different grin, Courser is weaker and finer is stronger. So if you grind finer and use less coffee you will save a little on coffee expences

Usually the finer the grind, the stronger the coffee--espresso is ground similar to powder.
