I got a tatoo on my back and 1 on each toe. I love the design, but I kinda regret getting them because I got my first one when I was 18 (I am now 25) and I thought it was all cool. But now everyone has a friggin' tramp stamp and it doesn't seem that cool anymore to me. How bout you?

I don't regret getting my two tattoos. I DO regret letting an artist I knew nothing about do the work on my first one. I DO regret letting him talk me out of red and orange and into blue and purple (because he was an artist and he felt the colors would look better that way) It now looks like a bruise until you get a foot away. Next month I'm getting it covered.
I learned my lesson on that one and waited until I found the right artist to do what I wanted on the second one.

PS I find the phase tramp stamp to be repugnant and derogatory to women. I prefer the term *ss antlers..... (running and ducking for cover)

PSS I hear this on one of the boards last week "Now we call em tramp stamps, In 50 years they'll call em gramp stamps"

I am extensively tattooed and the only regret I have ever had was not knowing I was going to have so many. Had I known how involved I would become in getting tattoos I would have taken more time to consider an integrated theme for a total body suit. Then I would have gotten individual elements of the body suit as time and money afforded. That way, each tattoo element stands out as a finished tattoo in its own right. And it works with the others as they are done. Finally, if I had the full suit eventually finished, it would all look a part of one, overall, unified theme. As it is, I am now a patchwork of disparate designs. The best advise I can give anyone thinking of haveing one or more tattoos is this: It will be on you for the rest of your life; think about it hard and long before you get it. Think how you might feel about it ten years from now; twenty years; thirty years... how it will look when you're ninety years old... Then, if you still want it... go for it. Make sure that symbols mean something to you... not something that is a passing fad... not something just because your social group is doing it... but only if it really means something to you, and will still mean something to you years from now.

In 2002, two friends and I very randomly just decided to get tattoos one day. The first friend went back and got a tattoo of a giant Digimon character on his back. He came back into the lobby with an instant look of regret on his face. The second friend went back and got an evil clown face he had drawn as a second grader, tattooed on his left leg. He came into the lobby shaking his head in disgust. He too knew it was a big mistake. I was last, and after seeing the looks on the faces of the first two guys, I opted for a small lightning bolt on my right shoulder. I have no regrets. I barely notice it. Don't get too crazy with designs. Keep it simple. Put it somewhere you won't have to see it every single day. And make sure it's not something trendy or popular at this particular moment because chances are the fad will pass.

I got my first tatto when I was 15. It was a "tramp stamp" although I didnt know that at the time. I dont regret the design, but i DO regret the placement. Its a rather small tattoo, and interfers with a backpiece I have planned. I would just cover it up with the backpiece, but it is a matching tattoo, and means alot to me and the person it matches, so I just have to figure out how to incorporate it into my backpiece design.

First off, I kind of like this question (dispite it's lack of originality.) It's good. Okay, now on with my answer, haha.

So far, I don't regret any of my tattoos. I'm only 20 and I've only got 5 tattoos, 4 of them i got between ages 18-19, and obviously my 5th one at 20. The only thing I dislike about 2 of them (skull & crossbones on my hip bones), is that i got them done by kind of a lame shop and their a little bit off center. Most people can't tell, but since it's my body I pretty much can. I wouldn't say I regret getting them though, I'm glad their there, I just wish they would've been done better. Oh well, I learned my lesson with cheap shops...!

If your taste has changed why not go for a cover up? there are so many fantastic cover up artists out there or maybe it be altered so you feel your tattoo is more unique to you.
I love my tatts, even the one done free hand that isnt exactly where it should have been placed! Theyre mine, theyre beautiful and they all have a personnal meaning. No regrets, I got my first at 24 (after spending alot of time supporting my friends who got most of their before 18!! and theyre all band related, I figured Id wait till I found something Id never grow out of.) My more recent one was Oct 06 on my foot, 4 in all. No. 5 will be my back panel!! All done over 14 years!

i love my tattoos. i got my first ones when i was 18 and i am now 25 as well. the only thing i regret is not being more informed about tattoo artists and not finding someone who was a talented artist first. i have since gotten my first three tattoos covered up with actual art. but i don't regret having them. they're still there and i'll always remember the tattoo and why i got it. but now i am more selective about what will take up space on my body.

not me but my girl friend got a tat that I drew for her a Leo symbol inside a sun and the tattoo "artist" told her the symbol was the wrong way and she believed him and now the thing looks like a strange "s" on her shoulder, this guy had a good reputation too.
As for my own I have no regrets at all I drew them and got exactly what I asked for, do lots of research and get advice from others you know in the area and don't let anyone change your mind on what you want, just give it a lot of thought. If your thinking of getting something wait two months and see if you feel the same way.

I got my tattoo for a specific memory about 6 years ago. I'm getting a second one next month. I'm 36 years old, a teacher and mother of two, and the tattoos will continue to have significant meaning to me 50 years from now.

I think people only regret their tattoo if it was on a whim, or if it wasn't really meaningful.

Well, I'm 29 and mine...took me almost a year to plan...don't think it's "all cool" but I love it....it represents something important to me. I would love it regardless of whether it were "cool" or "uncool" to have one....that wasn't the intention of getting the tattoo in the first place.

I do also notice that alot of the people that regret theirs now got them when they were 18 and below...
