i am a woman who has tattoos and the reaction i usually get from guys is amazement. it takes a lot of dedication to sit thru 11+ hours for one tattoo. i love it when anybody has a "good" tattoo. i am not impressed by just anybody who has a tattoo, it has to be a good one.

Does it really matter what other people think? I love tattoos. I wouldn't feel like me if I didn't have them. I can cover all of mine. My best friend has her hands and neck done. She doesn't get many rude remarks. A lot of people compliment them and ask her about them. Most people are curious. No one's been really rude to me about what I've done. Some people tell me I'm stupid for doing what I've done but I'm happy. Do what makes you feel good.
I have 3 tattoos, a cut scar of angel wings on my back, and 6 piercings. And I don't regret any of it.

As a college sophomore, I only have one tattoo on my right shoulder...I agree with you...i do believe that the majority of mainstream society correlates tattoos with deviant behavior (i.e. for women being seen as less classy; for men being seen as rogue-ish and living a more wild lifestyle). yes, such behavior may be true for certain individuals, but one can not attribute these traits to all tattoo wearers...let us view one another more as individuals as unique beings who get tattoos for a variety of reasons...

I'm not a big fan of tattoos on women, especially those ones of the lower back - where I live, they're common as mud, and most of the time they're badly done ie. off centre. I think that one sexy one looks nice - eg. a little one on the hip, but I know of a girl who has quite a few, but they don't relate to each other at all. So she has a Celtic one on both her hips, one mad symbol on her upper back, etc etc. Because they don't relate to each other, it makes her look inconsistent and random. It also depends on body shape. She's super skinny, so the tattoos above her hip bone just emphasise it, especially cos she's always showing them off. I like them on men though. I think they're really sexy and masculine, especially when they're on muscles.
