After the depressing results of this past elections, I felt the same way. We as a country were severely hurt but few people understand it to my level. Anyway, without getting too political...

So I chatted with my father-in-law about my feelings. He made a very wise observation that has given me a great amount of peace. His observation was this... GOD IS STILL IN CONTROL!!! Regardless of what WE see or what is happening, God is still in control. God doesn't ask us to beat evil and fix the future ourselves. He DOES ask us to maintain faith in Him and to stand up for what we know is right. What that means is that when we are tested, we need to take the Christian stand.

For example, in the last presidential election one candidate stood for abortion, embryonic stem cell research, etc. The other candidate was against abortion, against embryonic stem cell research, for freeing a country from an evil dictator, etc. Which is more valued by God?

Regardless of the outcome, some chose for good Christian values, others chose for bad. As long as I keep in mind that God is in control, I don't feel like it is as overwhelming. Bad things will happen and as we get closer to the end, more and more bad things will happen. Just remember God is in control and will eventually remove evil for us.

We as Christians are the light of the world.....Matt 5:14
We are not OF this world....John 15:19
..the world hates us because we are not of the world....John 17:14
Hebrews chapter 11 tells us basically how to exist in this world...by faith....and gives us examples of men who have done this and what they hoped for.

The world would be a paradise of peace and harmony is we all lived as Jesus taught us:

"You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." (Matthew 22:37-39)

With love in Christ.
