somebody burglarized my home a several months ago; and they finally got caught; I was wondering if they pay me back- the money that they took, or all they get is to go to jail?

The court can order them to pay for the damages and up to 3 times the original value of the property they stole from you. Make sure to ask the prosecutor to ask the judge for restitution.

If items were stolen you should have filed a claim with homeowners insurance and they would pursue the person once caught. If no insurance, you can talk to the prosecutor and see if he can get an order of restitution as part of sentencing. Otherwise, you will have to sue the person in civil court. Good luck.

your home owners insurance should cover lost items and money in your home. it is possible that they could have to pay you restitution but chances are they are prior criminals and will probally end up getting locked up then what most would consider a type of probation

Sorry to say, but they get jail. And UNLESS you can prove the money you lost (which you need to provide serial #'s) you get nothing, OTHER than KNOWING they are being punished.
