Because they are trying to "save us from the wrath of hell", i've basically just ignored them because it's there problem, not mine.

Atheists just want things to be proven before they're put into effect. Atheists demand a logical explanation for things. Christians have a moral guide that they honestly believe works. Wheth3er it does or not, I'm not going to debate here. The point is that Christians have this idea that if you are not Christian, then you are automatically wrong in some way or another because you don't follow the same guidebook. Atheists want everything to be structured and make logical, rational sense. In short, no cramming of anything, just a reason beyond "...but the Bible says..." Many, if not most, Christians aren't like this. Just usually the ones that kick up the biggest stink.

I discuss my beliefs openly, but never insinuate that I expect others to blindly agree with me.
Christians are taught to share their beliefs because its unfair to have a wonderful gift and not share it with the world. However, its not logical to scream and insult people when someone chooses not to accept it. For some people, I think its more about being right then it is about really caring for someone.
There's a church in my area that only focuses on teaching its members how to win souls for Christ. It doesn't focus on building your own personal relationship with God ... just for you to get out there and convert the sinners. I think its attitudes like this that add to the forceful nature of Christians when debating religion. If you can't convince everyone on Yahoo to believe as you do, you aren't doing a good enough job for God ... so you take that anger and frustration out on other people.
People choose to come to God because they are seeking out something different that the world doesn't offer. Anyone can scream and yell damnation, why would this convince a non-believer that this person has anything different which is worth their time?

I belive in the Bible and in God so strongly that I hate to think that anyone will suffer the consequences of not believing because I never tried to tell them about God. I hope that I never make people feel like I'm trying to cram my beliefs down their throats. That is very counter-productive. I apologize for those Christians who have made you feel that way. I still pray that someday those who don't see God like I do will come to believe, but I know that not everyone will make that choice, and I respect their decision.

They have a deluded belief that they are somehow helping you by forcing their beliefs on you. As far as they are concerned, your personal feelings on the matter just aren't important- after all, they think you should appreciate their efforts to try and save you from going to Hell.
But I also think they might have a selfish motive. I was raised in a Christian family and my parents were always telling us kids to try and convert friends and they said if we did that, then we'd be sure to go to Heaven. I guess it's plausible that other Christians might think that way, too, and figure that by converting others that God will like them better.

I never ever try to convert anyone or talk about religion unless others bring the subject up or ask my opinion. There is nothing in my faith that says to try and convince or convert people to my religion. I bet you have never had a Muslim come to your door wanting to share the words of the Quran have you? Thought not. Your wrong not all who believe in God are going around forcing there opinions down others throats. Sorry.

there are other areas to go to so why do you come to this area knowing it is for those that believe in God? Like being told if you put your hand in a furnace it will be burned so you stick your hand in the furnace and then complain that it is hot. If you don't like the subject matter here, you are free to go elsewhere and stay clear of this part. Nobody is forcing you to come here so saying someone is forcing things down your throat is a bit outlandish at best. If you don't like the conversation, go somewhere else!! Use the brain God gave you if you have one.

You sound like an atheist robot without a mind of your own. No one's cramming anything down your throat, we feel sorrow for you more than any other emotion. With god, everything gets better. And from the looks of it, you'll never experience anything but hatred before your inevitable death arrives.

Not all Christians, like myself "cram" religion down ppls throats. Yes indeed we are to share the good news and speak of Jesus/scripture to others, but its because we want you to find the same happiness and peace we know. Not everyone is a fanatic. Im certainly not, its simple, tell of your faith and let you decide...that definetly isnt shoving anything anywhere

Are you talking about here on the Y/A's religion and spirituality section? Obviously people who believe in God come here to share their beliefs as the Bible commands them to.
1 Peter 3:15 but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; 16 yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame.
If you are talking about people who come and knock on your door then either they are evangelists or they are kooks who are trying to get you to join their cult.

it's religion*. anyway i believe in god and i dont try to cram it down anyones throat. if anyone asks me about god i am more than willing to talk to them about Him. He is a pretty cool cat. i learned about Him through someone talking to me about God. maybe if you were a little open minded (i'm not trying to be mean) you wouldn't get annoyed by it. of course, there are some crazy fanatics...maybe those are the people you've encountered. mmm.
