This bothers me too.
I think they are afraid that someone more intelligent then themselves will respond, and then they are left with egg on their screen.

i don't mind e-mails, although i've gotten some weird and hostile messages...i just delete the hate...but i don't allow IM's, mostly because i don't like interruptions-if i want to chat with someone i do it face to face or by phone...that being said, i will remind you that as the person asking the question, you have control over the question, but you have NO control over the answer...that's the beauty of free speech...

Nuts. I didn't accept email in the beginning but had to allow it when I wanted to tell someone something. I've had lots of great discussions and met a lot of interesting people. And I've had to deal with many, many crazies.

I guess alot of people are just private. I wouldn't want just anyone sending me emails either. When they post a question and you answer it, Yahoo answers automatically emails them to let them know. Thats the safest way, besides theres too many nuts out there.

Who knows. Maybe they're afraid of terrorists or something like that. Or it could just be that like some people here they don't want to have any accountability for what they post.

Im afraid of being harassed with emails. I don't need my inbox flooded with worthless emails. If I knew that I would only recieve an occational email, I would allow it, but Im not sure if that is the case.

What are you, some kind of wannabe stalker?

Leave people be if that's what they want.

You can e-mail me if you want. And I can ignore you.

QUESTIONER ... PAY ATTENTION ... Y!A allows them to ask a question without having to receive e-mails.

Now why do YOU want to e-mail people who ask questions?
