8 cans black beans with juice
1 large onion, diced
2 green and 2 red bellpeppers, diced, more if you like
6 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups cooked rice
3 tablespoons or more of each: chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder
1 tablespoon cumin
2 cans Ro -Tel
2 cups water
vegetable oil, about 3 tablespoons to saute the veggies and garlic
salt and pepper
minced jarred jalapenas, as much as you want, or dont use at all
Saute the veggies in oil for about 10 minutes, add the rest and bring to a boil, simmer for 2 hours stirring often and adding water if it gets to think. Add the rice at the end.

Are you talking about green beans, fava beans, lima beans, or red beans? If you're talking about chili, or chili like products, then consider approximately 1 to 1 1/2 cups per person. If you're talking about the other kind, then 1/2 cup is usuallly the norm.

The following is for 40 adults.
You will need 3.2kg of fresh beans,2.4kg of frozen beans and 400g of dried beans.
RECIPES
Fresh boiled beans
1 Place beans in large boil. add water till barely covered.
2 Bring to boil, cover. simmer 10-20minutes untill cooked.
3 Drain well. add margarine to taste.
Frozen Beans.
Place beans in large boiler. add boiling water till barley cover. bring to boil. cover and simmer 10mins. drain well.
Dried Beans
Soak in cold water approx 1 hour. Bring to boil. simmer 10 mins. Add 500ml cold waqter, to stop cooking process. drain well.

If you are cooking dry beans, you need to go ahead and prepare about a 10lb bag. (Be sure to soak overnight, but before you do that, look the beans and be sure to remove any culls and stones.)
