Because one was a grandpa, the other the dad, the last the son (3 generations). The grandpa is a dad also, and the dad is a son to the grandpa, but there are only 3 people.

The dads have sons, but they are the one's that are their father's sons.
Their sons didn't come, just them. They each shot a duck, and both shot one together.
