See a Doctor to have it checked for wax blocking the canal or fluid build-up behind the eardrum. If those have been ruled-out, then a hearing test should be done as soon as possible to determine the extent and nature of the hearing loss.

Based on those results, the physician (preferably an otologist - ear specialist) can determine the best course of action. The longer you wait, the less effective treatment will be if it is a problem with the inner era (cochlea).

Someone suggested that you might have been exposed to loud noise, but that typically would have effected both ears, and it is likely that you would have mentioned it in your question. If you have any other symptoms, such as noises in your ear, spinning dizziness, headache or fever - please add details to your question.

Well there could have been a couple of reasons:

1. too much wax build up that disitegrated as the day went on, maybe when you were in the shower and water flushed it away.

2. You were near high decibel noises very loud noises) that could have injured your Cochlea's hairs (Cochlea- a small thing in your air that transmits sound to your head through tiny hairs and liquid after being vibrated by the hammer, anvil, and stirrup[ bones in the inside of your ear]) ... which may have caused you to lose hearing for a limited amount of time, or damaged one of your Cochlea's hairs for a certain pitched sound.

3. a substance was blocking you ear canal, which later might have flown out (related to ear wax problem)

or

some other reasons, not as high in probability as the ones above.

Good Luck!

I do this all the time. It could be an ear wax plug in which you need a few drops of ear wax softener in each ear at night. Also, If you sleep and your jaw presses against your ear a certain way, that can cause this. I have TMJ and it happens often. You could have gotten water in your ear while showering or washing your hair. Then you would need the drops for swimmers ear. I wouldn't be too concerned.

probably just some wax build up. I would buy some debrox at the store. Follow the directions but instead of using a bulb syringe, manipulate your head and ear to get the shower jet into it. It may take a few days to clear up. If you start having pain in the ear or along the jaw it could be viral or bacterial infections. I would start by taking tylenol and using some nasal spray to loosen up the upper tracts.
