Actually refreshing to see someone here who is concerned about putting harmful substances into their body. However, some doctors recommend small amounts of wine for different ailments providing the person isn't an alcoholic and it doesn't interfere with other medications or conditions. I was about to leave this part of the forum when I noticed this. All this poisoning of the body and brain was becoming depressing.

Speaking for wine:
Whether you believe its health benefit is up to you. There is a rich history and culture behind wine-making. Knowing the stuff does not require you to become an alcoholic.
You know, in wine tasting where they judge/evaluate the quality of the wines, they spit the wine out after swishing it in their mouth. People don't go there to get drunk.
Of course, people who are easily addicted to things and have weak or no will-power, or simply don't like wine, should stay away from it.

Studies investigating the benefits of red wine suggest that a moderate amount of red wine (one drink a day for women and two drinks a day for men) lowers the risk of heart attack for people in middle age by ~ 30 to 50 percent.
It is also suggested that alcohol such as red wine may prevent additional heart attacks if you have already suffered from one. Other studies also indicated that red wine can raise HDL cholesterol (the Good cholesterol) and prevent LDL cholesterol (the Bad cholesterol) from forming. Red wine may help prevent blood clots and reduce the blood vessel damage caused by fat deposits. Indeed, studies showed that people from the Mediterranean region who regularly drank red wine have lower risks of heart disease.

What are you talking about? It's not arsenic. If you read the bible, Jesus also drank wine....so, I doubt its poison. My theory is this. Too much of anything is bad for you. Drink in moderation and you'll be fine. Besides red wine is very good for you, as long as you only have one glass. Who poisoned your mind?

Soooo, you think it's bad, so no one on earth should drink it? Puhleazzzze. I can't stand Orange Juice, but I'm not wasting my time trying to force people not to drink it. Good grief. Get a life.
How can *I* drink wine? Because it tastes yummy, gives a nice buzz, and is *good* for you (polyphenols and resveratrol).
