The other day I went to get a check up, because it's just what females, and everybody for that matter should do. Anyway, me and my boyfriend have been together for a year and 4 months, and I completely trust him but I just wanted to know when the last time he got himself checked so that I would be prepared if any test results came back with any negative results. I was'nt trying to accuse him of anything, but I just wanted to know. But he took it as me trying to say he gave me something, was I wrong or is he just over-reacting?

I think it's quite a sensible question, however I can see how people would interpret it as distrustful.

I guess you just need to approach it in the right way. "Hon - I don't want you to feel I'm not trusting you, but I was wondering when the last time you had a medical check up was..." *shrugs*

no you werent wrong or wnything else for that matter. if a guy gets upset about the getting tested question then maybe they are hiding something. if he was confident that he didn't have anything then he wouldn't have a problem going and getting tested. just talk to him a lil better about it. let him know your feelings about it. Plus you two have been together for a while there should be no problem for the two of you getting tested.

If you two are sexually active, I'm surprised you hadn't asked him this before y'all had sex the first time...why wait so long? If he had anything when you met, you've (probably) got it now.

As for his reaction, I can see why he'd be a little upset if you hadn't brought this up in the 16 mos you've been together (esp if you've been having sex) and all of the sudden you want to know if he's been tested...

Seems kinda like closing the barn door after the horse has gotten out to me...

You were in the wrong. I don't think you should be asking anyone that kind of personal question other than your husband or wife. Since you said your boyfriend, you have no right to be asking personal questions such as this.

Sometimes I've noticed guys get mad at things said in a certain context. If it seems that we're giving unsolicited advice it makes them edgy. Not saying I agree with this, I've just noticed it.

He totally over-reacted! Everyone should get themselves checked out! Good job for asking him to.

No, that was not wrong, you just wanted to make sure. Maybe talk to him about it and tell him that you did not mean it like that, and that you just wanted to make sure that his body was healthy too.
Sometimes guys over-react too, and they say that we only do that.

He's totally overreacting. It's your right as a girlfriend or sexual partner to ask those kinds of questions especially in this day and age...

No of course not. You need to know if he has any sexual diseases, especially if you're planing to have sex. It is not wrong at all because it is for your safety, and his. Just remember to keep telling him that you're doing this because you love and care about him.
