hello i was wondering if Naples and Greece are good duty stations. i ship out in may and it is my understanding that if you do well in school you get to choose from a list of duty stations. do they let you off base, are the natives friendly towards u.s. service men? ido over seas installations have anonymities that the u.s . bases(gyms, exchanges,etc) is it hard to get these stations?thanks!!!!!!

we don't have any in Greece. we DO have a small base in Crete, though.. Souda Bay.

Whether or not you can get an OCONUS assignment will be dependant on your rating, as well as Needs of the Navy..and timing...

Only Cuba can you not leave the base. all other OCONUS locations it is encouraged that you do so, and they will have activities that make it easier. Most Basaes have all of the same amenities as a CONUS one, and in some cases.. more. The FleetRec center in Yokosuka, for instance, rivals anything Stateside has to offer.

They will tell you anything to get you to sign the papers. Depending on your rate you will more than likely be sent to a ship.
If you do get a shore station Naples is a good station. but you will only be guaranteed for one year then you might find yourself on a ship out near Iraq or Iran. But what ever you get Good luck to you.

Yea right, Sorry to say but you may go directly to a ship so don't get your hopes up too high.
