Yes, when I was in the third grade in 1990. As soon as I said "Mum" out aloud to her, I realised I had said the wrong word/thing, and I then said "Sorry Ms R..." and she approached me from ahead/infront of me, and came over beside me to my left, and she said/replied "Yes son?" and laughed and smiled at me. Oh well, at least I'm not the only one, who has done that. I'm glad the other students in my class, didn't question/ask me about that later on/give me a hard time about it. I actually attempted to get in touch with that particular teacher late last year, (using the electoral roll) to thank her, for her contribution to my school education, and apologise for being rude to her one day in class. I told her to shut up, when she was reading a book to my class. I used the word: "apologise" but overlooked using the word "sorry" in the few letters I sent to, who must have ended up being other J R's interstate. From what I remember, at the end of the last day of school that year (she was only at that Primary School I went to, for one year) she handed out a post it note to each of the students in my class, saying we were welcome to call her any time. I never did though. I was too shy. I didn't feel comfortable calling anyone on a telephone, until I was much older. I took the note home, with her name and telephone number on it, put it in my wardrobe which I still have - the wardrobe that is, and left it there, for anywhere between 6 months, to 1 or 2 years I think.

It happens all the time. I'm a teacher myself, and my 15-16 year-old students sometimes make that mistake. We get a great laugh out of it, because I'm not old enough to be their mom!

No, but as a teacher in a Catholic school, I've been called "mom, grandmom," and even "sister." In public school, I was called things I shouldn't really repeat.

I teach teenagers, and sometimes they call me " Mom".... especially when they are trying to make a point or convince me of something. I just let it pass and try not to embarrass them.
