better safe than sorry.

Well, as for manners go, yes, it's perfectly fine.
But there is the safety issue, in which case no. I don't even think guys should go alone because when there are a bunch of drunk people around, there is always the possibility of something going wrong. A fight, a rape on the walk home, some creep that can't take no for an answer, whatever you can think of. Sad but true.

If the political/feminist sense - of course!! Safety wise - depending where you live, I wouldn't reccomend it! I knew a girl who went out with the girls one night and they all drank a fair bit. One of them met a guy and when they decided to leave, the girl would not go with them and stayed with the guy. She ended up raped! the friends were devastated though they tried to get her to leave with them - she pulled a tantrum and refused. If you do, be safe, don't drink or accept a drink from a man that hasn't been handed to you by the bartender, keep your wits about you (don't get hammered), and let someone know where you are. If you are looking to meet new people, look to sports activities, service clubs and avenues like that??

Sure it's okay, just make sure you go to a safe place. But personally I wouldn't go to the kind of places that have fights & stuff even if I had friends with me. And either don't drink or take a cab home, 'cause you can't take turns being the designated driver with your friend :P

Be prepared to deal with predators. Make sure it's an upbeat place with good people. Always watch your drinks. Also, try to have fun and meet new people. Some nice people might welcome you more because you seem to need company. You're more approachable when you're alone. That could be good. It's probably safer to exchange numbers with a possible hookup and get together later so you can really get to know that person. It could turn out better than you think.

It's okay, but not a very good idea unless it's a small neighborhood bar.

i guess its okay. Maybe you're traveling and staying in a hotel and you don't just want to hibernate in your room all evening so you go to the lounge and have a drink. Nothing wrong with it.

I concur with NYNY...they should be going with me!!! j/k
I would say that it depends on the type of the establishment, part of town, and their tolerance for alcohol.

Why not, just remain in control of yourself and don't pick up any strangers. Because the key word in strangers is strange!
