Am I a masochist?

That's how progress occurs baby!

The slow masochistic efforts of progressive thoughts pushing the tide against our human desire to simply linger in the past.

It's working - slowly but surely it is working.

I mean look, scarcely any kings around who got their power from God...That's a big one! We don't burn people alive for "blaspheming"... you gotta love that. Uhm, holy wars are much much more isolated than they were just 400 years ago!

Women I guess have finally paid off that whole original sin thing and get to be more than just a man's property these days!

The church no longer has it's own standing army! Groovy, one less of those for peaceful peeps to worry about.

It is much more en vogue to seek medical attention instead of just prayer and chanting when ill.

There has not been a successful prophet to release a new book in a really long time - whew thank goodness. Pat Robertson and David Koresh are the closest thing in our generation.

Notice how a lot of christians bend a lot of rules?
The mood has changed from "strict observance" to "my personal relationship with Jesus". Still a little strange - but alot more leeway in that second scenario.

Uhm....
Witchcraft? That's one less thing to worry about...
Human Sacrafice? The fanatics changed their tune on that finally.
Actually blood rituals of all types are gone bye bye.

Black people are no longer assumed to be Caananites - a big validation for slavery - so even though Im not black - im pretty stoked about that.

Can you say - seperation of church and state!
Booyah!

All this stuff happened because of people like you doing their little tiny part to push back the covers and demand progress both mentally and spiritually....

so keep it up babe!

Maybe it's because you discovered deception in what you were taught when you were younger and you don't want other people to fall for a lie.

Of course, just because you were raised in a pseudo-Christian environment doesn't mean that Jesus wasn't a real person who died to pay for our sins and who was seen by over 500 eyewitnesses after He rose from the dead.

Maybe you are still looking for the truth. Jesus said "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me"

Why is that? Because no one else lived a sin free life and was the only acceptable sacrifice before a perfect and Holy God. I hope that you won't let your previous bad experiences keep you from receiving the gift that Jesus offers to all who will come to Him.

God isn't going to be asking people what they did about the fanatics or the hypocrites or the narrow minded, cold hearted purveyors of religion. He is going to want to know what You did about Jesus.

regardless of is fairly major to you and and is on your suggestions regularly is what someone speaks or for this reason kinds about. So at the same time as answering questions that relate to the Bible (and that i'm sorry to assert that basically about all circumstances in existence relate to the Bible) they might quite u study it for your self. The bible says it more beneficial advantageous. also i presumed in case you've been quoting it is piracy. (in different words unlawful) it is like asking a scientist a technology question yet no longer wanting him to respond to utilising any prices or expertise that has been in the previous written that he has study or studied. it can not be done. This international is for sure divided between non secular and non-non secular people. So in case you want to ask a ? yet do no longer want the opinion of the religiously vulnerable bible quoter's than specify that on your question no matter if it is so offensive to you. you don't understand how troublesome it grow to be no longer to position in a Bible account. LOL i'm sorry you experience that it is irrelevant yet perhaps some different person that reads the comments would experience in a unique way.

just a few random thoughts...

1) without any specifics, your question comes off as condescending and a little insulting...if you could present an example without so much stereotyping it would be helpful in getting thoughtful responses

2) there is a disconnect between those of faith and those who are atheist/agnostic-the latter seem to insist on being provided 'evidence' or a 'factual' basis for faith...which is entirely impossible, just as there is no 'logical' basis for things like love and beauty...some things just 'are'...you can't measure them or quantify them, but you know them when you feel them

3) if your intent is to be 'rational', then i fail to see a purpose in asking the YA community to explain your motivations...this is something that, perhaps, you should be asking yourself

Maybe not all your answers go to 'brain-washed religious fanatics! Just as there are 'logical' answers given by 'Christians'. Yes, there are also answers given by 'Christians' that are illogical (and outside faith) also.

Because every once in a while we find a person who is still only standing on the edge of the abyss of theistic delusion, and can be pulled back by logic and reason. It is worth it, even if we waste our time on a thousand closed minded fools to reach him/her.

Why else are there so many atheists on here - we must love pointless uphill struggles.

Its like sisyphus rolling the stone uphill... and just when you think you've got the stone to the top you hear 'evolution is just a theory' or 'why are there still monkeys'

I came to the same conclusion myself about 2 minutes ago. I am simply going to set up a few templates in response to questions like "Why do you believe in evolution if it is only a theory?", and just copy and paste them.
