Be adult about it. Sit him down and be straightforward as possible. If he is a true 'Man of God', he will not judge you and will accept and respect your decisions.

Does he NEED to know?
You don't need to tell him. Just be true and honest to yourself. If he asks, tell him. But TELLING him without him asking, is almost as if (hypothetically this may happen and this is what he'll think) you decided not to believe in god - as in... consciously denied something that really exists (i.e., rebelling for the sake of being different). He'll think atheism is a FAD and that you know, deep down in your heart, that God exists, and you're saying you don't because you secretly hate God or some other nonsense.
When it does come up and he asks you why you're an atheist (or he may phrase it as, "Why do you THINK you're an atheist?") just say you see no evidence for a god and being atheist is simply the default state. Nothing is implied of atheism except lack of belief in a god. No communism, no devil worshipping, no immorality. You're still YOU, you just don't believe there is a higher power until you see actual evidence that could make you think otherwise.
Is that okay?

No matter how old you are, you should know that your parents deserve respect - so simply give your father the kind of respect you would expect from him and explain how you feel.
It may be that you are just going through a phase right now - where you are questioning your religious beliefs and your father's - so don't go too far over board and listen to his side, too.
Call in a referee - if needed, someone with a cool head who will listen to both sides and who can remain neutral.

* Freedom of religion also means freedom from religion and freedom from discussing your religion.
You did not say how old you are, so if you are a minor living at home, you may just have to stay silent for your own peace of mind until you get grown and leave. If you are an adult and still living at home a discussion like this still could be very un peaceful for you. If you are grown and living on your own, there is no reason you need to tell him, unless he brings it up and asks you bluntly why you do not go to church. Then just be polite and tell him you respect his belief and ask him to respect yours. He probably will not knowing Christians like I do.*

I think you need to have an honest conversation with him. I believe in God, but if you don't, you need to tell your dad. Another thing I would advise you to do is to think about why you don't believe in God. I'm taking a Philosophy class and my professor tells us we need to be able to explain why we believe or why we don't believe. Don't just say you don't. Really think about the idea of God and do your own inquiry because this question is critical in how you live your life. You can either stay not believing or change your mind.

Just like youve told us. Tell him you are tired of lying behind his back and faking like you are asleep to avoid attending church... You are a good child (I assume) who isnt getting into trouble - so why should he force his beliefs on you, when you feel you do not need them?
Of course, you might want to wait until youre 18 to say anything...

Just tell him. everyone is allowed their beliefs.I think the worse thing a parent can ever do to a child is to make them believe something just because they believe it themselves. Otherwise it is just brain washing. My mum believes in god but she never forced it onto me or my siblings which im thankful for.

Please read my words carefully:
If you see footmark in the sand, you'll say that someone passed from here...
If you see a piece of dog sh*t on the ground, you'll say that a dog passed from here...
So what about the enormous universe, the sky, stars, planets, earth and all the beauty in it, doesn't it lead to that someone made it?!!!
Some people say that everything is created by itself after the big-bang... I won't ask you about what caused the big-bang, but I'll ask you a simple question:
If you take all the letters of the alphabet, multiples of them, and you threw them randomly on the floor. Do you expect (by a chance of one in infinity) to get a poem like shakespear's??!!
Can't you see how organized our universe is, the planets, the eco-system on earth, look even in your own body... Can you control your heart-beat? Can you control your breath while you're sleeping? Who stopped your eye-lashes from growing after reaching a certain length? Who told the baby turtles to move towards the sea and not to the earth after they come out of their eggs? Who taught the bird how to make nests?
My friend, think with your heart and brain. If you're still lost, think about the following:
Do you know how to play safe?
Your point:
If there's no God and you do all what you want in life, then nothing will happen to you after life. But if there was God and you were mistaken, then you'll blame yourself FOREVER...
Believer's point:
If there's God and I followed His commands in life, then I'll be in Heaven after life FOREVER. But if there was no God and we're mistaken, then nothing bad will happen to us after life...
Now you know how to play-safe, in case you're not convinced?

Why don't you study Scripture so you can tell him why he is wrong? Does he worship the Saviour YAHOSHUA on the special day He set apart, which is The Seventh day (The one usually called "Saturday")?

Ask him to prove God to you and if he can't then let him know that's the reason why you do not believe. However, I can't understand how someone do not believe that there is a higher power.
