He was making a macrame plant holder for his girlfriend. He had to go to the bathroom, but didn't want to put the macrame down just yet, so he crossed his legs and held it in. He began to sweat, so he got up to go to the bathroom. But it was too late. His bladder had burst, causing him to pee a puddle on the floor - right where the macrame rope was laying - and as the uremic poison spread throughout his body, the man collapsed and died, falling over the table where he had been working on his craft.
Yeah. It's a stretch. Ok, I give up.
**EDIT** Ok, you added details, so I will amend my answer. Right before he collapsed from uremic poisoning, he looked up and saw a hole in his ceiling with a rope dangling through the hole... "EEPS!" he thought as he died, "I'm being robbed!" When the burglar descended the rope, he saw the dead man, and didn't want to be blamed, so he ran out the front door, leaving the rope hanging from the ceiling... and it was raining... and the rain made a puddle... and got the rope wet... and essentially dealt with the whole pee puddle on the floor situation... but the guy was already dead... really sad.

the man decided to fix his ceiling that was leaking. earlier his wife was trying to kill herself so she already had the rope on the ceiling. it was wet cause of the leak. so the man stood on the table to fix the leak when, his son ran in, slipped on the puddle, hit the table, and moved it a foot, and caused the man to some how get his head through the rope. the kid in shock runs out screaming.

The water was due to a leak in the roof of the room. The man slipped on the water while taking the rope to tie up his dog outside, shattered his temple of the side of the table and subsequently died.
There may be a more feasable answer, but this one works.

It was an ordinary day. Sun was out and the sky was blue. He decided to clean the house and mop the floor, so he put out a bucket of water and then noticed that a singl lightbulb went out above the kitchen table. He got a rope and tied it to a hook in the ceiling (no one knows why there's a hook in the ceiling) anyway, he got up tied himself to the rope. he reached for the bulb and started to twist it, then he got electricuted because he forget to swtich the light off. the shock was so powerful it killed him instantly. he fell, the rope untied from his waist because it somehow couldn't support his weight and he landed on the floor knocking over the bucket of water.

Used the chunk of ice to hang himself, then the ice melted, left a puddle and soaked the rope.
