I think I may have some kind of mental disorder..
I'm not really sure what kind.

Here are some.. tendencies.. I have:
-Extremely irritable.
-Long periods of depression, long periods of extreme happiness.
-When depressed, I cry for no specific reason.
-I get dizzy easily.
-I always feel tired and weak.
-Sometimes I feel like I have to throw up.
-HORRIBLE anxiety over the smallest things.
-Sometimes I get really weird. Like, I'll start thinking about my mom and I'll get really worried about her, even though she's safe. So I might do weird things. Ever heard of "step on a crack, break your mother's back"?
-If I start thinking about it, I cannot do simple things such as blink normally or breathe normally for hours.
-I often over think things. I can't hear someone talk with out wondering about their entire life.
-I have trouble concentrating. Constantly doodling, etc.

I'm fourteen and a freshman.
Help! What could be WRONG with me?!

-The sickness I get is not caused by any medical problems.. I don't feel ashamed to ask my parents for help with that. I'm almost 100% certain that it's in my head.

-Psychiatrist and psychologist pretty much mean the same to me right now. Sorry, I'm only fourteen. My parents will know which one I should see.. I'm not seeking medication; just help. To make me normal.

-Maybe I should say that my dad physically abused me a lot when I was younger. I don't like to talk about it much, but I remember.

Please do ask your parents to help you to arrange a visit with a psychologist. Many of the things that you are struggling with are the sort of problems that a psychologist could definitely help you with.

You should be proud of yourself for being able to recognize that you're not feeling as well as you could.

And please... don't chalk this up to being a "normal adolescent." I'm sure that you *are* quite "normal" (whatever that means...) but you're right to think that you shouldn't have to suffer in the ways that you're describing.

Good luck.

I agree with the others here that at 14 years, issues may be seeming bigger to you than they really are but from what you said I also do really think you need some form of therapy eg a psychologist to speak to (who would know if you need refering on. I also think counselling is much better to try first for a problem before going to more major things eg drug treatments which can have many side effects).

It sounds like you have quite an issue with anxiety.. that may make one feel dizzy and sick too and if it stops one from sleeping well, you may be feeling tired and weak. please make it clear to your parents that you are needing some help and get them to take you to see someone. Dont leave this problem be in case it gets worst.

So very good that you recognize that something may be going on and taking steps to help yourself! If you feel comfortable, go talk to your mom and ask her to make you an appointment with either a psychiatrist or a counselor. The psychiatrist can prescribe medication, if you need it, but the counselor is generally going to be more helpful when it comes to talking out problems and putting into practice the solutions. If you don't feel comfortable talking to your mom, contact your local mental health center and make an appointment with the counselor. You are on the right track. Keep going! Good Luck.

Megmeg - What's wrong with you? You are 14.

I know your mother probably says the same thing to you. Sorry, I am a mom of a 14 year old son. Relax honey, you are okay.

At your age (I'm sure you're tired of that expression) everything seems exaggerated. Your hormones are surging so you get irritable, tired, depressed, anxious.

If you want to do something that will help calm you down, you can try using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) or emotional tapping. I use it. My three children (20, 19 and 14) use it. EFT is easy to learn (you can learn the basics in 15-30 minutes) and it is very easy to use. You can use it anytime, anywhere for any emotional or physical issue.

You can download the FREE EFT manual from EFT website (www.emofree.com).

You're going to be fine.

For starters, You are definatly depressed, which leads to anxiety. Over thinking things like someone elses life is a sign of some sort of self doubt, due to depression... Dizziness comes along with anxiety...anxiety and depression go hand in hand, although you can have one with out the other, but in most cases it is both. Your fortenn and a freshman, life is changing your changing and its scary. Nothing is WRONG with you, it happens to a lot of people, but you should get a hold of it sooner than later. I would definatly advise you to speak with a therapist. If they think it is needed, they will give you medication to help with the depression. Now, don't be scared of medicine it can help in you in many ways... I've been there hun, its not easy but it can be worked out. if you need to talk you can send me a message..I've taken many psychology classes and have experience working with young adults.

Hey dude! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with you. I t is called " growing up". Factors contributing to your minor stresses are: want not need, desire not passion, and when you can not find the balance, you feel distraught. Your frustrations are brought about by your unrealistic cravings for what you think is necessary in your life.

You don't need a psychologist at all, what you need is your mother. Mothers come in all shapes and sizes. But they are always meant to be there, as a loudspeaker, a doormat or a monsters. You get bored by their constant nagging but if they stop, you miss it. So enjoy and have fun with it while it lasts.

I can assure you, nothing is wrong. It may not be perfect but it is normal.

Hey BTW, welcome to the real world.

Hmmmmmmm.....
Sounds like you have all the symptoms of being a teenager. The hormone surges of adolescence cause irritability, poor focus and mood swings; the task of learning to be independent causes fears of separation and anxiety.
However- to rule out mental illness, speak to your school nurse or guidance counselor.
Or talk with your mom and ask for a check-up.

Read "Diary of Ann Frank"- she writes about being an adolescent in a way we all can identify with (except she's trapped in an attic in WW2).

lots of stuff could be wrong with you.... you need to see a medical doctor for the dizziness, fatigue, and weakness..and nausea....

for your depression and anxiety i recommend you start off by seeing a psychiatrist...not a psychologist...because a psychiatrist can prescribe medication and a psychologist can not...

good luck to you hun...

My opinion. I think you need to talk to someone. Even just a gp (general practioner--your family doctor) He can do some testing or advise from his tests. If nothing is wrong--great--but it is better to find out "what" is going on. I think something or maybe more than one something could be wrong but a doctor knows far more than we do on here.
Good Luck to you.

You sound like you might be manic-depressive. I am, and it's tough.. but taking your history with your father into consideration, it could all be situational.. at any rate, I would suggest going to a counsellor for talk-therapy along with seeing a psychiatrist to look into the possibility of biological causes for all of this.
