1. What is the hot topic in your community? A new school? A new fire chief? A horrible traffic accident? Use the topic to write your letter. Review the incident and then give your opinion.

2. Write a letter about Iraq and the recent non-binding resolution against the surge that passed the House of Representatives.

3. Write a letter either pro-choice or pro-life. This would be about abortions.

4. Write a letter ether pro and anti gun. Should it be legal to sell all types of guns? Should it be legal to carry a concealed weapon? How about a concealed weapon in a car - without having to have a permit (a law recently passed in GA, I believe)

If your goal is to have your letter published, keep it short-under 300 words--250 or less is even better. Write your points in a clear, focused manner, and, if possible, think of some "zinger", some turn of the phrase, that will make your post memorable.

Write your ideas, suggestions or opinion on an issue of local or global importance. Something where you want people to pay attention.
Some general suggestions:
Global warming, Terrorism, High Taxes, Social Security, Guns, Drugs, Affordable Medical Care.

Any topic you strongly feel about. It can be personal or related to public, your expeience, your view, your ideas. But it should be well written and very emphatic.

news papers should have an exclusive page for reader's wit no ads and other print material... it should have material written by readers about their views, problems, appeal to governments, messages etc on that page... and mind it the publisher should pay for the contributions from the readers...
