If your cat has static then your house is to dry. Get a large pot and fill it with water, then put it on your stove on a very low heat. As the water heats up it will disperse humidity in the air and help the cat.

Go to your local pet store and buy a bottle of detangler for cats. Treat it as if it were a concentrate and put a small amount into a misting bottle (something you would use to mist plants) then fill the rest of the bottle with water. Mist your cat's hair and comb it in. You will have to do it frequently, daily to several times a day, while the house is dry in the winter but if your cat likes to be combed that shouldn't be a problem.
There is no permanent solution to keeping the static away as long as the house is dry. February is the worst month for this problem. Good Luck.

I have the same problem every time I pet my cat i shock her with static electricity its because the air in your place is dry..
Try getting a humidifier and you'll see a difference when you pet your cat.. If it's sick I would take him to the vet first and then in turn once it's better get a humidifier and things will be smooth petting for ya..
Hope it helps

Do you bathe the cat?If so you should be able to get something like hair conditioner like we use.Other wise ask the Vet if it would be ok to take a dryer sheet and rub over the fur.If it won't hurt the cat when it injest's it when licking itself.

Our hands have oil on them that should help reduce the static just by rubbing the cat, but if not then just put a little water on your hands and rub from her head down to her butt she might get pissed for a sec. but it should fix it. And you don't have to soak your hands just get them a little wet

Rub him with a drier sheet and the static will go away. You can also dab a little bit of lotion on your hands and then rub him.
