and the best thing we could come up with to his glory was consumerism, capitalism and the daily rat-race grind.

No, we took dominion over the earth, and justified our rapacious, avaricious abuse of it by telling ourselves God gave it to us.

What was the question again? It's up to each one of us to go along with the trend or go simpler and more conservationist-minded. You may not be able to change the world but do what you can at your end of the street and work your way outward right? You definately got to accentuate the positive and not the negative. It can be so exasperating to argue religious rights and wrongs when it's all about people having values. Loving God. Asking for his help. Otherwise you go," what a mess!" and say it's hopeless, right? Are you saying that we deserve to be hated by other nations? Could be you're right. Nothing is forever. Things will get better sometimes.

Jesus Christ, 1000's of years in the past, confirmed that shall we anticipate ailment to proceed right into a term he called “the tip of the device of issues.” He stated: “there will be . . . in one place after yet another pestilences and foodstuff shortages.” (Matt. 24:3-7; Luke 21:10, 11) The be conscious “pestilences” is translated “outbursts of ailment” in the hot testomony in easy English and “epidemics” in the residing Bible. The true God did not give us dominion over the Earth. More like care takers, and so far we have failed. "When the last fish is dead from pollution and the last tree is cut down, the white man will see he cannot eat money". Good question. Of course some think "why take care of the Earth the end is near", it is almost funny if it wasn't so tragic.

Free will is a test of love, and the judgement is a parent returning to find the house trashed by a kids' party. I think we're in the ****. Or maybe some plague will 'save' us, eg AIDS giving an average age of 12-14, and trees marching down the motorways with just a footpath left clear...

Well, first God tried giving the earth to the animals but they didn't need to eat any apples to know that the temptation was too great.
Then he offered it to us and we accepted. The rest of this answer will not be typed out because I'd be struck down for it...

We're still young and "evolving". I expect that spirituality will get the better of us in a few years if we haven't already ruined our little blue planet which we call home.
There is no God, but humanity will judge itself on the shameful way it has treated its own home and peoples. Hopefully we will surpass this crap or war and turmoil and move beyond to an enlightened utopia.
First though....how to get rid of George Bush!

I understand your discontent, it's a good sign.
Yes, we can do better, but we're not finished.
People like you are what's needed to make a difference. Walk the walk.
