If I'm over 22 and I go to a party with underage drinking, am I at legal fault? I'm not the host or affiliated with the throwing of the party. I was simply invited by a friend (she's 18, btw). What kind of trouble could I get into? Thanks.

Contributing to the delinquency of a minor, accessory to a crime
and a few other things depending on where you are and whether they want to throw the book at you.

I've been drinking since age 15, almost every weekend two parties a night and I've never encountered the cops... I don't know why people are so uptight on here with underaged drinking. It helps underage drinkers develop a tolerance before college. Initiation into my fraternity was nothing, I simply did a bottle of Tequila in a beer bong. Only a heavy buzz.

Most underage drinkers though don't have the tolerance and will usually act like idiots.. I couldn't stand partying with kids my age because they acted so stupid.. so that will probably be the worst part of your night is dealing with the stupid kids.

i do no longer drink underage yet i think of the government could exchange some thing the two the ingesting age or the age to bypass into the army because of the fact how come an 18 300 and sixty 5 days old infant can bypass into the army yet cant have a bear after he only watched somebody get shot? So i think of i'd exchange the age to 21 to have the flexibility to bypass into the army.

Yes you can be held liable if you know they are under aged and you do nothing about it. A lot of that will depend on the police officers whether they charge you or let you go. Best to stay away from parties where underaged persons are drinking.

I don't think you would legally get into trouble. he police could come in and search, so if you have anything illegal, then that would be bad. The person who owns or leases the house would get inot trouble. If my underage son, has a party, even if I am not there or have any knowledge that there is alcohol, and someone is injured or killed driving from my house, not only would I feel horrible but I could be sued and lose everything.

I dont think its likely that you would get in trouble, but if the police were called, you could be arrested or ticked for contributing to the deliquency of a minor.

This is more of a moral question.
If you care about your friend, you should maybe convince her that is isnt a good idea that she has parties that encourange under age drinking.. Its not only not health for her, but can get her into alot of trouble,
YOu are more of the adult, you should take a stand to help your friend. That would be the humane thing to do.

Once I went to a party when I was 23 and many of the guests were underage. The cops came and were cool about it and let me go, but you might not be so lucky. If cops want you to be in trouble, they'll find a way.

You will be at fault, because any time there are minors there (plus, big clue, the one inviting you is 18) you can get arrested, and for what, to hang out with minors - not worth it. Stay hanging out w/ college people (21+) and the bars- chances are, there will be people there under 18 also, definitely not right.

yep even if you dont buy the alcohol you can still be arrested jailed and fined for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and some other kind of charge relating to distribution of alcohol to known minors doesnt even matter that you didnt buy it or really contribute you are considered the responsible adult party along with anyone else over 21
