Much better for your sweet boxer than the salty butter and it's about $3.99 a bottle available almost any pet supply shop.
My boxer lived to be 18-great dogs!!

Butter contains derivatives from milk which at his age he should not be drinking anymore of and can develope a lactose intolorance of it. Also butter is high in fats which the dog is or should be provided all the neccessary fat in his diet. Feeding further fat will only create blockage in his arteries and cause stomach upset.

It is very very fattening. Plus you are going to create a picky eater. If you want to mix in something that is tasty and good for them, mix in salmon or fish oil and vitamin E. They love it and it excellent for their coats, skin, heart health, and joints.

i don't know if it is harmful but it would make him very fat. try mixing in pouches of wet food if you have him on dry food. but only do it as a treat otherwise he might become picky with his food
