my sisters dog broke his leg and she could not afford it at the time so she put a splint on his leg and it got better on its own. Tylenol, I do not think you could give that to a dog. Maybe if you go to a vet and tell him what happend he might give you somehting for his pain. Also search around, some vets give credit.

What pound was this? I have never before heard of a dog pound picking up a dog with a broken leg and not seeking proper medical care. I have also never heard of a vet that wanted money up front.
But you cannot give tylenol to a dog. It will shut down the dog's liver. Find a vet with a payment plan. The dog will have residual problems if you don't seek professional medical care for this broken leg. The least of which is the current pain he is in.

Do NOT give a dog Tylenol, Advil, Aleve (no Ibuprophine or acetiminiphine!!!!!!!) They are all very toxic to dogs.
As for asprin while it is safe for most dogs it should NEVER be given to ANY dog without the advice of a vet..just because friends, family, neighbors., people on the net, etc give it or suggest it does NOT mean it is ok to give your dog.
As for your dog he needs to go to a vet now!!! It is animal cruelty not to seek medical attention for any animal you own when it is in need. In many states not taking your pet to a vet when necassary is punishable by fine and/or jail time.it also can mean that your right to own a pet will be revoked. Money issues is NOT considered an acceptable excuse for not seeking proper medical care.
The pain from a broken leg will not be lessened by a simple asprin..be responsible get proper treatment for your dog.

Dude thats messed up. If your dog has a broken leg and your not going to fix it then your dog is going to be in loads of pain for the rest of its life, even after it heals and if anyone finds out like someone that would tell on you, your dog can be taken away. I would say barrow money from family or save up. 80 bucks is really not that much. I dont know about most dogs but my dog takes tylenol fine. But thats my dog, i wouldnt try it. What you need is a vet.

Yeah you can give them baby asprin, and we have given are dogs baby tylonal also. So I don't think it will kill them. But make sure it's the chewable ones. And I'm sooo sorry about you puppy.
You should try to get it to a vet though before it gets worst if he gets an infection in his leg it could go to his blood. I know the money thig sucks, been there with my animlas, but maybe a vet will help you out. Try calling a couple around you and let them know your situation if nothing else maybe they can give you some advice on what to do untill you can bring her in, or give you some antibiotics really cheap.
Hope you pupps gets better soon

Tylenol and Advil are both toxic to dogs. The most you can give him is baby aspirin. For a Pit, one in the morning and one at night would be fine (My 120lb lab takes 2am / 2pm for Arthritis, but your Pit is less than 1/2 his weight).
If you can't afford a regular vet, try your local ASPCA - They often offer low / no cost veterinary services for people that can't afford to take their animals to a vet.

they say to give a dog half of an adult dose of ibuprofen. So one 200 mg tablet will do or two if you think it is in alot of pain. Animals usually heal themselves but may never be the same. so when you can try to get it to the vet. go to an animal clinic not a hospital. They do not do anything on weekends but are cheaper and more affordable. if you look around the checkup might be cheaper.

If you can't afford to take care of a pet, you shouldn't have one. Call a vet right away, and tell them that you need to make payments. You might find one that is compassionate enough to do that. If not, give him to a shelter, they will fix him up. I am sorry your dog was stolen and you didn't hurt him, but he is your responsibility. How would you like to have a broken leg with no one to fix it. Broken bones hurt like hell.

I know for a fact that you can give your dog baby asprin. My vet tells me to give it to my dogs if they have been bitten by snakes or seem to have any pain in their joints due to the cold weather. I wouldnt chance it giving them Tylenol though. Do some research on the internet by searching dogs, tylenol or something.
Good Luck.
