Just as people get married to stay in the country, and are then able to get their greencard automatically (basically), mailorder brides are able to go through the process very quickly.

IMBRA changed everything in the mail order bride business. Its a new law, so the dust has yet to settle. IMBRA will put a lot of marriage brokers out of business.

"Mail-order" brides go through the same visa process as everybody else does. They still have to show proof that they actually met their intended, proof of a valid relationship and proof of no intent of fraud.
In fact there have been recent laws passed to discourage the practice of "mail-order" brides and overseas marriage brokers.

my guess is that they meet their potential mate before hand, then they bring them as a fiance. Therefore they would marry within the first 3 mos of them being in the US, and by the time you see them they are legal.
