in calculating a lunar landing to what decimal point do they calculate pi, and with what units (metric or english)?

i meant what units for distance and what precision for calculating pi. i realize pi is a proportion.

I don't know exactly what you are trying to determine, but the referecned article might be interesting.

NASA Programmers were using 22/7 for PI (3.1428571) which if you compare to a six decimal place equilvalent of 3.14159 is .0004% different.

Which may be interesting in that it's not only what the scientist calculated but what was used in the design of the actual controls and software.

The used English units out to 9 decimals.

There are no 'units' for PI. Therefore, it is neither metric or english.
