It's a drag ! i can't seem to be able to watch anything on my combo VCR-DVD , but it's been in use for 1 year, and i think is possible that i should clean the laser just about now. Do you guys think of anything else, save the fact that the machine it's not broken ?

check the dvd for scratches or smudges. typically cd/dvd lasers never need cleaning. try watching it on another dvd player to see if the same problem presents itself. that way you can find out if it's a problem with the dvd or the player itself.

Two things: clean the dvd player if wiping the silver part of the dvd with a soft cloth does not fix. (wiping is the second thing)

Maybe the disc is smudged with finger prints, wipe them off.
