My daughter had a doctor who said we needed to remove them (she was the same age as your daughter), I got a second opinion the doc said leave them, got a third opinion - the doc said leave them. We left them - she is 10 now and doesnt have a problem. I recommend getting a third opinion before either opting for surgery or opting out of surgery. Good Luck!

My answer is to listen to your own instincts. Check into your own history as a child as well as your husbands. Chances are, if you had a problem with Sinus infections, middle ear infections, step throat, etc,,, your child has a good chance of the same sicknesses. My daughter finally had her tonsils and adenoids out when she was 3 years old. This is after 2 years of horrible ear infections, step throat, and finally hearing loss and speach problems. You need to INSIST that something be done. Don't listen to the Ped. and wait like I did. Those illnesses are very painful.

My 4 year old son just got his adenoids out this past December. We were in a very similar situation we were not even sure that the procedure would help him at all. I opted for the surgery. The procedure its self was a snap 15 Min's and it was over, recovery was not bad either lots of jello and just a day with what he called a headache. I have noticed some improvement in his condition. Over all I would do it again if I had to.

I would go to a 3rd doctor and see what they say go to a specialized. But if it has to be removed the younger the better I think for healing my little sister had hers done at 4 and she is much better. They took out the adenoids and tonsils cause she was sick and her breathing was bad.

My daughter is 3 and for the last year and a half she has had sleep apnea and sinus infections because of her enlarge adnoids and tonsils. Doc put her on Claritin and Flonase to help b/c he didn't think she needed them removed. Early Fall last year, she stopped having the apnea as much and the doc says the adnoids have gone down.
I'd wait. Thye'll most likely shrink. Ear, Nose & Throat specialists are good ones to consult too if you want another opinion.

Wait. I would always choose waiting over optional surgery. Your daughter may also outgrow the problem. When my son was younger, he had problems sleeping and drooled a great deal. We were told his adenoids were to blame, but chose to wait and see if he would "grow into them." He did and the problem resolved itself. Any time you put a child under general anesthesia, you are taking a risk. You can always wait until after the summer, and then have the operation done if things haven't improved.

Get them taken out. WHen I was little, I constantly had ear infections and sinus problems. We went to get it checked out, and the doctor said to take the adenoids out. I went in for the surgery, and I haven't had another infection since! I was six when I had the surgery. I will turn 16 in two months. The one who said 'see if they'll heal' is a QUACK!

sounds to me like your doctor doesn't know much about newborns or breastfeeding to be honest. First off your baby will be eating that often since she is breastfed and is just about to hit her first growth spurt! Listen to your baby and pop your breast in her mouth and let her eat! Don't give her formula since all that will do is sabotage your breastfeeding and prevent you from ever making as much milk as she needs. Put her on one breast and keep her on it until she pulls off. Squeeze right behind your nipple to see if there is still milk coming out. IF there is she needs to go back on the same breast. As soon as that breast is empty you can switch sides. Alternate the side you start a feeding with each time so you have at least one breast fully emtied at each feeding. Emptying the breast is what triggers your body to produce more milk. Also as the breast is emptied the milk increases the amount of fat in the milk. If you are switching her to early she is going to be hungry sooner since she isn't getting enough "hindmilk" Babies that early will never overeat unless there is some kind of metabolic disorder. if the doctor hasn't tested for that I'd tell him to take a flying leap. In the meanwhile to increase your milk further I'd pump or hand express milk after every feeding so that your body is "tricked" into making additional milk. Breastfeeding is supply and demand...If the breast don't get the demand your body isn't going to make it.

When my daughter was a toddler, she was always getting sinus infections. Round after round of antibiotics and nothing worked. She has her adenoids removed and a PIC line put in. She was on IV and oral antibiotics for six weeks. As soon as they stopped the antibiotics, she had another sinus infection. She is now six and pretty much out grew the infections. She has one now, but her last one before this was in July! I would wait and see how it goes.

I had mine removed along with my tonsils when I was two years old and haven't had hardly any problems since and I am getting ready to turn 21 in just a few days so I would go a head and get the surgy done
